Jason Kennedy and Lauren Scruggs have welcomed their second child, a baby girl.
"We are delighted to bring some positive news to your feed today. We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our angel, Poppy Ford Kennedy, born on October 10th. She sends a warm hug to all of you," shared Kennedy, 41, and Scruggs, 34, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Friday, October 13th.
The post featured two photos, one capturing the precious moments after Poppy's birth at the hospital, and the second showcasing the serenity of the couple's newborn peacefully sleeping in her crib.
After Kennedy made the announcement, their friends and family quickly gathered in the comments section to express their congratulations. Taylor Lautner commented, "Love you pops," while Kim Zolciak-Biermann wrote, "Congratulations love birds." Zolciak-Biermann's daughter Brielle Biermann simply added a heart emoji.
In April, Kennedy and Scruggs, who already have an 18-month-old son named Ryver, shared that they were expecting another child. "This came as a big surprise but it's the most delightful turn of events," they shared on Instagram. "I'm excited to see little Ryver become a big brother."
The couple, who got married in 2014, announced their pregnancy news after nearly two years. This comes after they openly discussed their struggles with fertility over the years. In January 2021, Kennedy shared on Instagram that they were starting their IVF journey, with Scruggs undergoing treatments. He explained that IVF stands for in-vitro fertilization, where the egg and sperm are combined. The outcome could range from twins to no pregnancy at all.
In March 2021, Scruggs expressed her gratitude for every aspect of the IVF process. She acknowledged that despite the discomfort and fatigue she may experience from the injections, she is reminded of the joy and fulfillment that comes with having children. She emphasized that the temporary discomfort is a small sacrifice compared to the beautiful rewards of parenthood.
Later that month, Scruggs had to seek medical attention due to severe pain following her egg retrieval. Kennedy reassured their followers through social media that their doctor confirmed everything was fine. He playfully mentioned that he would step in as the caring nurse to support Scruggs during her recovery.
The previous E! News personality shared that their planned home birth did not go as expected. After 23 hours of labor, Kennedy experienced a fourth-degree tear and had to undergo a vacuum-assisted delivery. However, 10 hours later, their baby Ryver was born. According to the National Institute of Health, vacuum extraction is used to facilitate vaginal delivery for various reasons, including maternal or fetal indications.
He further expressed gratitude towards the exceptional doctor, midwives, and team who took care of them. As he typed, he observed with love how his partner pumped, held, and comforted their son. He appreciates these precious moments and the care his partner provides for their child. He concluded by expressing his love for Lauren Kennedy.
