Ahead of its release in the United States on December 1, a fresh trailer has been unveiled for Godzilla Minus One. Similar to the previous trailer, this new teaser for the monster film reveals only a few additional glimpses of Godzilla, but when the colossal creature emerges, it brings unimaginable devastation.
Taking place in Japan after World War II, Godzilla Minus One chronicles the experiences of various characters as they witness the emergence of Godzilla in a nation still grappling with the aftermath of global conflict. Struggling with a decimated military, a dismantled navy, and the absence of assistance from the United States to avoid provoking the Soviet Union into further hostilities, Japan finds itself alone and ill-prepared to face the impending threat of Godzilla.
Japan is not unprepared to combat Godzilla, but traditional weapons can only do so much against the destructive force of this bipedal creature. One interesting feature shown in the trailer is Godzilla's distinct atomic breath, shown by his dorsal fins charging up and protruding from his skin in a foreboding manner. If you want to watch the film before its international release, you'll have to be in Japan as it recently premiered in theaters, exactly 69 years after the original film, Gojira, debuted in 1954.
Monsterverse fans can expect exciting things ahead with the upcoming release of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a new series on Apple TV that centers around the organization responsible for monitoring all the Titans. Featuring a talented cast including Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, and Ren Watabe, the series is set to premiere in 2024. Additionally, Godzilla X Kong will bring together the iconic Godzilla and the awe-inspiring ape as they face off against a new monster that poses a threat to the world.
