James Gunn, DC's new creative chief and the writer and director of Superman: Legacy, is generating excitement by revealing the actors who recently auditioned for the film. Gunn's updates on the casting process, shared on the exclusive social media platform Bluesky, provide fans with new insights into the selection of key roles such as Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor for the upcoming reboot of the Man of Steel in the new DC Universe.
Gunn expressed his satisfaction with the actors who were involved in the screen tests for the roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film. He described being "blown away" by some of the actors, stating that they are among the best he has ever seen or worked with.
Who Are The Superman Frontrunners & When Will Superman Legacy Casting Be Announced?
David Corenswet, known for his role in the film Pearl, has long been a favorite among DC fans to play Superman. He was among the initial actors considered for the role of Clark Kent in Superman: Legacy, as reported in the first casting updates for the movie back in May. It was mentioned that Corenswet would undergo a screen test for the role around Memorial Day or early June.
Following the recent round of auditions, Corenswet, along with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney, appears to have screen tested for a role in Superman: Legacy. While there was some uncertainty about Hoult's potential involvement as Lex Luthor or Superman, it seems that Corenswet may be a fitting choice for the Man of Steel. Now that the screen tests are completed, Gunn, Safran, and other DC and Warner Bros. Discovery executives will review the footage and make a final decision. This process is expected to be concluded by early July, potentially aligning with Gunn's announcement of the actor who will portray Clark Kent at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. The anticipation for this reveal is immense, as it marks a significant milestone for DC and their upcoming film, Superman: Legacy, set for release in 2025.
