Jada Pinkett Smith affirmed that she and Will Smith will remain a couple, even after they separated in 2016. The 52-year-old actress made the statement during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, November 28, while promoting her memoir, Worthy, in which she candidly wrote about their separation.
"It seems like your shadow and his have sort of gone their separate ways in this book, regardless of whether they remain together in the end," Drew Barrymore remarked to her guest. "It sounds like you're in it for the long haul."
"We are staying together forever," Pinkett Smith affirmed, sharing that she and Smith, 55, had "attempted" to separate at one point. "I believe that one of the next stages in relationships is when you truly learn to fully accept yourself and your partner. It's been quite the journey."
Pinkett Smith expressed that her journey of self-realization has allowed her to have a greater appreciation for her husband, as well as for Chris Rock, who she famously slapped at the 2022 Academy Awards for a joke he made about her. "You learn to accept others, even when dealing with their flaws," Pinkett Smith stated. "I have learned to love and accept Will and Chris for who they are, as well as myself. That's what it's all about - figuring it out together."

In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, the experienced actress revealed that the Oscars incident actually strengthened her bond with her husband, whom she has been married to since 1997.
"Being by his side that night, what I realized was that I may not have entered as his wife, but I certainly left that evening feeling even more connected to him," she expressed.
One year after her divorce from the former Fresh Prince, Pinkett Smith appeared in the 2017 comedy Girls Trip alongside Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Regina Hall. She portrayed Lisa Miller Cooper, a nurse who reunites with her college friends to attend the annual Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
“We had a blast making that movie. There was a lot of improvisation, and Tiffany was always the instigator,” Pinkett Smith shared with Barrymore, 48. “She would come up with outrageous ideas for the scenes, and we would just go with it.”

The movie earned more than $100 million and sparked discussions about making a sequel. When Barrymore inquired about the potential for the women to reunite for Girls Trip 2, Pinkett Smith stated that she has not dismissed the idea. "I mean, they keep mentioning it, so we'll wait and see," she informed the host. "It would be wonderful to do."
