Jack Nicholson made his final movie appearance in the rom-com How Do You Know 13 years ago. In a recent interview on WTF With Marc Maron, his longtime friend Lou Adler revealed that Nicholson is content with that relatively forgettable film marking his exit from the big screen. According to Adler, Nicholson prefers to focus on more important matters and enjoys spending his time reading under a tree.
"That sounds like Jack," replied Adler. According to him, Nicholson is now seeking a more peaceful existence, which aligns with numerous reports over the past decade. These reports describe Nicholson's leisurely pursuit of reading under the shade of trees, while allowing his legacy to speak for itself.
This quieter lifestyle also extends to Nicholson's conspicuous presence in the front row of Lakers games at the Crypto.com Arena. Adler, 89 years old, revealed that he and the 86-year-old Nicholson have both reduced their attendance at these events. "I still go, but not as often," Adler stated. "I used to go to every game—Jack and I would be there for every game."
Nicholson's departure from acting is similar to Gene Hackman's exit from the industry. After his last movie role in 2004's Welcome To Mooseport, Hackman focused on writing novels. In the past 20 years, he only made one on-screen appearance as a diner patron on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
