About the series

Ishura, originally a web novel by Keiso, made its debut on the Kakuyomu novel website in June 2017. The series was later acquired by ASCII Media Works and released under their Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. As of October 2023, eight volumes of the light novel have been published.

Yen Press has acquired the global English release rights for the series, and this is the description of its plot:

"After the demise of the Demon King, a new generation of demigods with the power to defeat him has emerged: a master fencer with the ability to assess and defeat opponents with a single glance; a lancer so fast they can surpass the speed of sound; a rogue wyvern fighter wielding three legendary weapons simultaneously; an immensely powerful wizard capable of manifesting thoughts into reality; and an angelic assassin able to deliver instant death."

Continuing their quest for the title of "One True Hero," these champions eagerly seek out challenges against powerful enemies and even create conflicts themselves. The ultimate battle to determine the strongest among them is on the horizon. More information about the anime, including the number of episodes, new characters, and other important details, will be unveiled in due time.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I'm thrilled about the upcoming anime adaptation of Ishura. The light novel series has captivated me with its intricate plot and compelling characters, and I can't wait to see it come to life on screen. The release date of January 3, 2024, can't come soon enough!

The announcement of the main cast members, Yuuki Kaji and Reina Ueda, has further piqued my interest. Kaji's portrayal of Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan was nothing short of iconic, and I'm confident he'll bring the same level of intensity and emotion to the role of Soujiro the Willow Sword. Ueda's performance as Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba showcased her versatility and range, making her an excellent choice for the character of Yuno the Distant.
