Does Mera die in Aquaman 2?
No, Mera doesn’t die in Aquaman 2.
In the sequel, Mera has a few close calls with the main antagonist, Black Manta, who begins Aquaman 2 by stealing a valuable substance called orichalcum from near Atlantis. Mera is one of the first to try and stop him, chasing after him as he escapes. When Black Manta uses a sonar radar on her, Mera is thrown into a rock and left for dead. Despite his threats, Mera survives and recovers as Aquaman hunts down Black Manta.
When the team arrives at the lost kingdom in an attempt to eliminate the power of the black trident, Mera's top priority is to rescue her son, who has been kidnapped by Black Manta. Amidst the chaos, Mera narrowly avoids being struck by the black trident as she tries to escape, thanks to Orm (Patrick Wilson) intervening in the nick of time. Fleeing to safety, Mera's focus is on protecting herself.
In response to Heard’s performance in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a fan posted on Twitter, "For those wondering, Amber Heard is in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but she’s very much a side character. This is Arthur and Orm’s story through and through."

As a passionate fan of the Aquaman franchise, I am thrilled to hear that Mera survives the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Amber Heard's portrayal of Mera has been captivating and integral to the story, and I am relieved that she will continue to grace the screens in the DC Extended Universe. Mera's strength, courage, and unwavering loyalty to Aquaman make her a beloved character, and I am eager to see her journey unfold further.
While it is exciting to know that Mera survives, I am slightly disappointed that she takes a backseat in the sequel, with the focus shifting to Arthur and Orm's storyline. Mera has proven to be a formidable warrior and a valuable asset to Aquaman, and I would have loved to see more of her in action. Nevertheless, I trust that the filmmakers have crafted a compelling narrative that will keep fans engaged and entertained throughout the movie.
