Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce believes that rookie Louis Rees-Zammit has the potential to become “the most marketable player of all time” if he finds success in the NFL.
At 23 years old, Rees-Zammit made the decision to leave rugby union in January after a highly successful international career representing Wales and playing for a top club in the English league. In March, he secured a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs after catching the attention of the NFL through their International Player Pathway (IPP) program.
The Welshman, who lacks experience in organized American football, will now try to secure a spot on the Chiefs' 53-man roster for the upcoming regular season starting in September.

In the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Chiefs star Travis Kelce, the legendary center expressed his excitement. He mentioned, "With a smile like that, this guy, if he works out, he’s gonna be the most marketable player of all time, look at that face."
Travis Kelce responded by saying, “got to love a debonair young man.” However, he also cautioned that Rees-Zammit would face a tough few months ahead as he transitions to American football.
"It's going to be a humbling experience at first," he said.
"It's not easy to transition between the two games because they are completely different. However, the Chiefs recognized his athleticism. He is intelligent both on and off the field. With time, he will be able to grasp the offense."
"He's going to face some challenges as he adjusts to the NFL in the coming months.
"We've been playing together since we were young, so we have those natural instincts that he needs to catch up on."
Travis said his advice to Rees-Zammit was to not get overwhelmed and that “everybody believes that you have the potential to be able to play.”
Jason Kelce ‘very incorrect’ on Welsh people
Jason Kelce took to social media to apologize for his comments made on the show. He described a stereotypical Welsh person, causing some controversy. Even actor and Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney disagreed with Kelce's assessment, calling him "incredibly wrong."
Kelce had mentioned that he believed Welsh people were "rich, upper class, just beautiful White people." He also referred to Rees-Zammit as the "running stereotype of what I would think of with a Welsh person." However, he admitted that he wasn't sure if his description was accurate.
Kelce admitted on X that he was wrong about something. He mentioned that he had made incorrect statements and upon further reflection, he realized that his preconceptions were unfounded. In his post, he shared that he now sees the Welsh people in a different light and is happy to have been proven wrong.
McElhenney, one of the stars of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and co-owner of Welsh soccer club Wrexham with actor Ryan Reynolds, invited Kelce to explore Wales. He mentioned on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he could introduce Kelce to some people.
