Saeed Abiyar, who was an adviser to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Syria, passed away in the attack, as reported by Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency.
It is believed that Abiyar is the first IRGC member to have been killed by Israel since April, when Israel carried out a bombing on Iran's embassy compound in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of several commanders.
Syrian state media SANA reported that the most recent incident took place around 12.20 a.m. local time on Monday. Israel conducted an aerial attack with missiles, targeting multiple areas near Aleppo city. However, the exact number of casualties was not disclosed.
Since the start of the civil war in 2011, Iran has sent military advisers to Syria to assist President Bashar al-Assad.
