British filmmaker Matthew Brown discusses his motivation for creating the cinematic adaptation of Freud's Last Session, featuring acclaimed actor Anthony Hopkins in the role of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. The film explores the meeting between Freud and C.S. Lewis, portrayed by Matthew Goode, delving into their respective ideas and philosophies. Although the story is fictional, it treats the characters and their real-life concepts with earnestness. Brown's intent behind this project is revealed in his interview with THR, where he shares his creative vision.
What is the Plot of ‘Freud's Last Session’ About?
This film is not only personally intriguing to me, but it also holds immense relevance and significance in the current time. Our society is deeply divided by ideologies, and meaningful conversations seem to be nonexistent. My aspiration is to create a film that appeals to all audiences by evoking emotions, provoking thoughts, and fostering creativity. At the heart of the human experience, this film ventures into the fundamental aspects: love, faith, and mortality.
