Police have stated that they do not suspect foul play in the death of actor Cole Brings Plenty, who was found dead last week.

Cole, who is the nephew of Yellowstone star Mo Brings Plenty, was discovered deceased on Friday, April 5, following a report made days earlier that he was missing.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas was alerted about an unoccupied vehicle. Upon reaching the location, they discovered Cole, who was 27 years old, deceased inside. The cause of death is still unknown.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 10, Lawrence Kansas Police Chief Rich Lockhart confirmed that no foul play was involved. He mentioned that his team put in a lot of effort to investigate the incidents and locate Cole.

He added, “None of us could have imagined this outcome.”

Lockhart also candidly expressed the hard truths he was forced to reckon with in attempting to solve Cole’s case.

He mentioned that the Police Department needs to improve trust with the Native American community. He realized this after meeting with Cole's family and other Native American community members. It's clear that there is room for growth in our partnership with a community that holds significance in Lawrence's history and culture.

He expressed hope that by building bridges and forming partnerships with the Native American community, the police department can establish a strong relationship. This relationship should not only enhance trust and understanding but also serve as a model for other communities to follow.

Cole disappeared on March 31 following a warrant for his arrest due to a domestic violence incident at an apartment in Lawrence. Authorities were alerted to the situation when a woman was heard screaming. By the time they reached the scene, Cole had already escaped in his vehicle.

The police stated, "We have determined [Cole] as the suspect, have grounds for his arrest, and have notified nearby agencies."

Mo Brings Plenty, known for his role as Mo on Yellowstone, reached out to the public on March 31 through an Instagram post, seeking help in locating Cole. Similarly, Cole Hauser, who portrays Rip Wheeler on the hit western series, also made a plea for assistance in a separate Instagram post.

Before his passing, Cole made appearances on the Yellowstone spinoff 1923. He played the character Pete Plenty Clouds in the seventh and eighth episodes of the show's first season.
