Elon Musk introduces Grok, an AI chatbot with a witty and rebellious nature, designed for select users of X Brace for laughter as this sarcastic humor-filled bot aims to emulate Musk's own sense of humor

Get ready. Jokes are on their way. Elon Musk recently revealed the launch of "Grok," an AI chatbot, aimed at select X users. Musk claims that this chatbot possesses a sarcastic sense of humor similar to his own. Having been the owner of X (previously known as Twitter) for a year, Musk announced on Saturday that Grok is being trained by accessing real-time information from the platform.

Musks AI startup, xAI, announced in a blogpost that the bot it developed was inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a British comedy sci-fi novel written by Douglas Adams.

Musk humorously stated on X that Grok "has a passion for sarcasm," while expressing his intrigue about the source of its guidance.

"Grok, the AI developed by xAI, is known for its clever responses and rebellious nature. However, if you're not a fan of humor, it may not be the right fit for you!" stated xAI in their recent blogpost.

According to Musk, the bot is currently undergoing early-stage testing. Soon, it will be accessible to subscribers of X's Premium+ service. In the United States, these subscribers pay $16 per month and gain access to exclusive features like the highly desired blue checkmark.

Grok is designed to compete with ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that OpenAI, its creator, released to the public with great excitement last November. Musk is one of the co-founders of OpenAI, but he resigned as chairman five years ago due in part to differences in the company's direction.

Elon Musk envisions a future without the need for jobs, driven by artificial intelligence.

According to xAI's blogpost, the advanced language model (LLM), known as Grok-1, has surpassed the capabilities of GPT-3.5, the LLM powering the publicly available ChatGPT. This significant improvement is evident in various aspects, such as successfully solving complex high school math problems.

The company stated that only GPT-4, which was trained using a significantly larger volume of data and computing resources, outperforms it. Previously, Musk has voiced apprehensions regarding the rapid advancement of AI and its potential to reshape human society in a negative manner.

xAI anticipates a significant enhancement in Grok's performance as Xs users provide it with additional data, potentially causing apprehension among those who disapprove of Musk's management of the platform since his acquisition of the company in October last year.

The wealthiest individual in the world has described himself as a "firm advocate of free speech" and stated that, during his tenure, the company would be hesitant to remove content and permanently prohibit certain users.

British far-right figure Tommy Robinson, who has a history of posting Islamophobic content on X, thanked Musk Sunday for reinstating his account, five years after being banned.
