Cuddly and adorable dolls may lose their innocence in Blumhouse's highly-anticipated horror flick, Imaginary. The official trailer of Imaginary introduces us to Chauncey, an innocent-looking stuffed toy with a dark and malevolent agenda.

Unlike Tim's best friend, Ted, Imaginary is far from being a friendly companion. The film follows the story of a female protagonist, who upon returning to her childhood abode, discovers her old cherished stuffed toy, Chauncey. Initially, she pays no mind when her stepdaughter forms an attachment to the toy. However, as her stepdaughter's behavior takes a disturbing and unpredictable turn, suspicion falls on the seemingly innocent Chauncey as the culprit.

Horror fans will undoubtedly be captivated by the movie, as the eerie notion of killer and possessed dolls has remained a popular subject for many years. With well-known figures like Chucky, M3GAN, and the film adaptation of the video game Five Nights At Freddy's, Imaginary takes this fascination to new heights by transforming the innocent stuffed bear, Chauncey, into a terrifying presence. Blumhouse has provided a first glimpse into this horror film, guaranteeing viewers a fear-inducing experience with a seemingly harmless toy.

Imaginary’s official trailer is all about Chauncey

Released on November 16, the official trailer reveals a captivating storyline. It showcases Jessica (DeWanda Wise) and her stepdaughter forming an emotional connection with her beloved childhood stuffed toy. However, as time progresses, a malevolent presence starts to emerge within their lives.

Returning home holds a special significance. The trailer commences with Jessica and her husband moving back into her childhood abode. Fond memories flood her mind, and she yearns for her new stepdaughters to experience the same bliss. Yet, the trailer swiftly transitions to a curious Alice (Pyper Braun) exploring the basement.

Nothing good ever comes from basements. Soon, she discovers a desolate Chauncey, and the toy quickly becomes her preferred companion. Together, they embark on a scavenger hunt, with Chauncey explicitly excluding Jessica for abandoning him. Soon after, peculiar occurrences start happening, such as Alice gathering dead flies from a trap.

Chauncey's scavenger hunt takes a darker turn as Alice completes dangerous tasks from the list, like inflicting self-harm and injuring her wrist on a nail. Worried, Jessica and her other stepdaughter enlist the aid of a professional.

Urban legends come to life in the movie "Imaginary," where the trailer introduces the menacing character of Chauncey who seeks revenge after being left behind. With promises of frights, horror, creatures, and a nostalgic glimpse into childhood, "Imaginary" is scheduled to release in theaters on March 8, 2024.
