Inscryption creator Daniel Mullins Games announced its next title, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, with a trailer at The Game Awards 2023.
Check out the trailer below.
Mullins' games tend to delve into meta territory, as seen in the trailer where players navigate a first-person world and engage with an in-game arcade cabinet that exudes an eerie vibe. This concept is reminiscent of Inscryption's unique approach, a deck-building card game experienced in first-person, allowing players to physically move around within the game.
Additionally, the trailer highlights the significant involvement of voice actor SungWon Cho (known for God of War: Ragnarok), who is featured in immersive full-motion video scenes blurring the lines between reality and the game world.
The conclusion of the Pony Island 2 trailer reveals a release year, albeit in a quirky and uncertain manner. The number fluctuates between 2024, 2025, and 2026, implying that the game will be released whenever it is fully prepared.
In the meantime, you can add Pony Island 2 to your wishlist on Steam and keep up with our ongoing list of Game Awards winners.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of Inscryption, I am thrilled about the announcement of Pony Island 2: Panda Circus. The original game was a masterpiece of meta-gaming and psychological horror, and I can't wait to see what Daniel Mullins has in store for us this time. The trailer hints at a similarly mind-bending experience, with its blend of first-person exploration, arcade-style gameplay, and full-motion video sequences. I'm particularly excited about the involvement of voice actor SungWon Cho, who is sure to bring his signature charisma to the role.
The only downside is the uncertain release date. While I understand that Mullins wants to take his time to create the best game possible, it's still frustrating to not know when we can expect to get our hands on it. However, I'm willing to be patient, knowing that the wait will be worth it. In the meantime, I'll be keeping a close eye on the Steam page for Pony Island 2, and I'll be eagerly awaiting any new information that is released.
