In an unusual awards season, a constant remains: deserving celebrities walk away from their glamorous nights with a sparkling new conversation starter for their mantle or, sometimes, for an intriguing storage spot elsewhere.
While some celebrities, including Julia Roberts and Sean "Diddy" Combs, prefer displaying their awards in prominent rooms, others like Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow opt for more unconventional methods, deviating from the traditional "above the fireplace" approach.
But one particular star might outdo them all in terms of peculiar storage choices. During a March 2021 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Rosamund Pike revealed her uneasiness about exhibiting her accolades at home. So, what is her solution to this discomfort? She ingeniously buries them in her own garden!
"I find it awkward, so I discreetly bury it in the garden with a small portion exposed to give a tantalizing glimpse of a hand or maybe the globe," stated the actress from Gone Girl. "I find it amusing because in the future, whether it's when I'm no longer here or when someone else purchases the house, they will be landscaping and come across metal, thinking they have stumbled upon hidden treasure, but instead they will have discovered a collection of awards."
While Pike envisions that awards shows will become obsolete by the time her trophies are unearthed, other celebrities have a greater fascination with their statues.
Tom Hanks, for example, proudly displays his numerous awards alongside his family's other achievements on a shelf. The acclaimed actor has been known to mention, "They currently reside on the family trophy shelf, right alongside the soccer trophies," when referring to his two Oscars.
The official statuette of the Academy Awards, featuring a knight holding a crusader's sword on a film reel, acquired the nickname "Oscar" due to its resemblance to former Academy librarian Margaret Herrick's Uncle Oscar. The Academy formally adopted this name in 1939.
Similarly, the Emmy's trophy design was chosen in 1948 after rejecting 47 proposals. The Grammy's iconic statues, shaped like gramophones, are meticulously plated with 24-karat gold every year.

Alternatively... or perhaps elsewhere! When it comes to safeguarding their awards, celebrities have been known to opt for intriguing locations for storage.

Many stars such as Julia Roberts and Sean "Diddy" Combs display their statues in prominent rooms, while Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow opt for a less conventional approach. However, there is one star who surpasses them all in terms of unconventional storage options. During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2021, Rosamund Pike revealed that she doesn't feel at ease showcasing her awards at her home. Her solution? Burying them in her garden, of course!
"I find it awkward, so I choose to bury it in the garden, leaving a small part visible for an intriguing glimpse of a hand or maybe even the globe," expressed the actress from Gone Girl back then. "I find it amusing because in the future, when I'm no longer here or if someone else buys the house, they will be landscaping and accidentally stumble upon metal and believe they have discovered buried treasure, when in reality it will be a collection of awards."
Although Pike believes that awards shows will become obsolete by the time someone unearths her trophies, other celebrities are more fascinated by their own statues.
Tom Hanks, for example, proudly displays his numerous accolades alongside his family's other achievements on a designated shelf.
"Where do they reside? They occupy a spot on our family's trophy shelf, right beside the soccer trophies," the actor apparently remarked when asked about his two Oscars.
The official statuette of the Academy Awards, featuring a knight gripping a crusader's sword on a film reel, is said to have received the nickname "Oscar" from Margaret Herrick, the former librarian of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She believed that the figure resembled her Uncle Oscar. In 1939, the Academy officially adopted this nickname.
Similarly, every awards season brings forth intriguing tales about the trophies. The Emmy's trophy design was chosen in 1948 after rejecting 47 proposals. Meanwhile, the golden gramophone statues awarded at the Grammy's are meticulously plated with 24-karat gold every year.

"I have a rather amusing situation with my mom and the first [Emmy] I won. She actually stole it. She promised to take care of it but six months ago, she declared, 'I am not giving it back.' To be fair, I think she keeps it as her only way to encourage me to visit her," the Ted Lasso star shared with E! News in September 2022, following his second Emmy win for the popular Apple+ series. "I might need to find a secure place to store [the second award]."

The rapper told We that he keeps his Grammys in a special area of his house he likes to call his “Sunday room.”

It’s this particular room that exudes an aura of intimacy, making it an ideal location for a photo shoot while leisurely perusing the pages of the New York and L.A. Times on a serene Sunday morning,” he expressed in September 2016. “Although I don’t frequent it as much as I would like, I often fantasize about finding the tranquility to sit down, indulge in reading the newspapers, savor a cup of coffee, and embody sophistication as I gaze up at my collection of Grammys. Regrettably, I have yet to fulfill that aspiration.”
