Skins have always been an integral part of Overwatch 2 for many fans, and one fortunate member of the community has recently discovered a game code from Goodwill that grants access to a rare Widowmaker skin. The landscape of cosmetics has undergone a significant change in Overwatch 2, with the introduction of the new shop feature receiving a considerable amount of criticism.
Unlike its predecessor, which featured semi-random loot boxes as a means to obtain skins and other cosmetics, this system is absent in the sequel. Instead, a brand new shop section has been implemented, allowing players to directly purchase skins or cosmetic bundles from a rotating selection on a weekly basis. While Overwatch 2 does offer some free cosmetic content for a limited time during this season, the majority of skins can only be obtained through purchase. The high prices found in the shop, coupled with the lack of reliable methods to unlock cosmetics through gameplay, has resulted in numerous complaints towards the game. However, it is important to note that this new monetization model is a logical consequence of the game adopting a free-to-play approach.
Some of the Overwatch 2 skins are highly sought after and considered nearly impossible to obtain in the present day. One of these elusive skins is the Noire skin for Widowmaker, which a fortunate fan recently discovered a code for at Goodwill. The Noire skin is one of the rarest in the game and was originally only available through a distributed code or as a pre-order bonus for certain versions of the game. While many of these codes have expired over time, there are a few that never had an expiry date, allowing one lucky fan to finally access the Noire skin in Overwatch 2, more than seven years after the original game's launch.
It's important to mention that the skin was also made available in 2019 as a bonus for players who pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch version of Overwatch. However, due to its rarity, some players who own the Noire skin have actually sold their accounts for hundreds of dollars to other eager fans. This practice still continues and is generally considered the only way to obtain the skin, unless Blizzard decides to distribute it again in the future.
Overwatch 2 is now accessible on various platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
