Reunited after years, 'Mean Girls' icons Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert join forces in a delightful Walmart ad, reminding us of their timeless on-screen chemistry

Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert reunited in a totally fetch Mean Girls-inspired Walmart commercial.

To celebrate the launch of Walmart's Annual Event ads on November 1, a clip was created. It features three girls dressed in pink, walking out of school, reminiscent of a scene from the popular 2004 film. Lohan, 37, also appears as her character Cady Heron and remarks, "Here at North Shore, some things never change. On Wednesdays, we still wear pink."

The ad then transitions to Chabert, 41, in the role of Gretchen Weiners, picking up her daughter from school. Excitedly, she exclaims, "Get in sweetie, we're going shopping for deals." This scene brings back memories of when Rachel McAdams' character Regina George told Cady, "Get in loser, we're going shopping."

Chabert later records her daughter and two friends dancing, uttering her iconic phrase: "This is going to be so fetch!" Her daughter responds with a groan, stating, "Stop trying to make fetch happen. It's still not going to happen."

Seyfried, aged 37, reprises her role as Karen Smith, who appears to have transformed into a weatherwoman. With a playful tone, she announces, "I'm Karen Smith, bringing you the weather. There's a 30% chance that it's already Wednesday," making a reference to her famous Mean Girls weather forecast.

The Walmart advertisement showcased Rajiv Surenda as Kevin Gnapoor and Daniel Franzese as Damian, along with the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” dance. The ad culminated in a scene where the entire school plastered Walmart Black Friday Deals posters around, reminiscent of the revealing of the Mean Girls Burn Book.

In January 2020, Tina Fey, the writer and star of the original Mean Girls, confirmed that a musical movie adaptation of the Broadway show, inspired by the 2004 film, was officially in the works.

Fey, 53, expressed her excitement about bringing Mean Girls back to the silver screen, stating in a January 2020 Playbill statement, "It has been truly gratifying to witness the impact that both the movie and the musical have had on audiences." Joining the cast are familiar faces, including Reneé Rapp, who previously portrayed Regina George on Broadway, as well as Busy Philipps and Jenna Fischer.

Additionally, several members of the original 2004 film cast have expressed interest in making cameo appearances in the upcoming movie.

Seyfrield expressed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in February that Mean Girls has had a long-lasting impact and suggested a reunion. She also mentioned her hope for Fey to make it happen. McAdams, on the other hand, stated in an interview with Bustle in April that she is unsure if incorporating the original cast is possible, but she is definitely interested if Tina can find a solution.

The new Mean Girls musical is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
