On Sunday, comedian and satirical talk show host Ziwe shared a sneak peek of her upcoming interview with former New York Rep. George Santos, who was recently expelled from Congress. In the teaser, Ziwe is heard stating, "Tomorrow, a comedian and a controversial figure come face to face in a revealing interview that's bound to make waves."
Ziwe bluntly asks Santos, "What would it take for you to leave?" The interview will explore the photos that seemed to show Santos in drag and his support for former President Donald Trump, according to a news release.
In the teaser, Santos is also prodded by Ziwe about the numerous scandals that marred his time on Capitol Hill, such as accusations of misusing campaign funds and the discovery that he falsified key aspects of his life story and resume.
"Can we be cautious about the DOJ situation?" Santos asks Ziwe in the teaser.
She responds, "What do you mean by being mindful?"
The House voted to expel Santos earlier this month after the long-awaited report by the House Ethics Committee found that the congressman had tried to exploit every part of his House candidacy for personal financial gain.
Last month, Santos announced that he would not be seeking reelection after the report was released. Despite refusing to resign and criticizing the investigation as "a disgusting politicized smear," Santos has pleaded not guilty to 23 federal charges, including fraud related to Covid-19 unemployment benefits, misusing campaign funds, and providing false information about his personal finances on House disclosure reports.
Ziwe, a well-known comedian and writer, is recognized for her witty and irreverent interview approach when discussing topics like race, politics, and other cultural issues with her guests. Her show "Ziwe" aired on Showtime for two seasons.
Recently, Ziwe invited Santos to participate in a chat via social media, describing him as an "iconic guest." In response on X (formerly Twitter), Santos eagerly agreed, writing, "let's do it."
The full interview will be available to stream on Ziwes YouTube channel on Monday.
