Honkai: Star Rail's latest update, Topaz & Numby (referred to as Topaz), brings in a new Hunt path character, expanding the already diverse roster. Following in the footsteps of the first limited character, Seele, Topaz takes the spotlight as the second limited character in the game. What sets her apart is that she marks the first-ever limited character in the Fire element category, providing players with fresh opportunities to explore synergies and team compositions. Particularly appealing to those who favor a follow-up heavy playstyle, Topaz's arrival adds a new layer of diversity to the character selection, elevating the overall gaming experience for those seeking thrilling new challenges.
Topaz, a character from the Hunt Path, has the unique ability to fulfill multiple roles in a team, serving as both the primary DPS character and a sub-DPS unit. The key to her effectiveness lies in her follow-up attacks, which not only benefit her but also provide a damage boost for all allies. This makes her an extremely versatile character, capable of providing support in specific team compositions in Honkai: Star Rail. However, it's important to note that even in follow-up attack-focused teams, Topaz and other allies still require additional support units to fully maximize their potential. While Asta is the primary support character for enhancing Topaz's capabilities, it's worth noting that the following team compositions have been carefully crafted with diversity in mind, ensuring that Asta is not a mandatory inclusion in every setup.
5. Topaz + Jing Yuan + Tingyun + Lynx
Another character with a heavy playstyle that can benefit from Topaz's kit is Jing Yuan. They have similar speed values and action orders, which makes them compatible. While they may not have perfect synergy as two DPS-oriented characters, their effectiveness can be further enhanced by adding other party members such as Tingyun, who can buff either Topaz or Jing Yuan, and Lynx, who serves as the healer.
4. Topaz + Himeko + Asta + Luocha
Numby and Lightning Lord can both be affected by negative status effects inflicted by enemies. Therefore, having Lynx's skill to remove area of effect debuffs can prove to be highly advantageous. This enables both characters to consistently perform their damage-dealing abilities without frequent interruptions.
While a Fire Abundance character is currently unavailable, players can still assemble a powerful mono-Fire team composition by combining Himeko and Asta with Topaz. A healer or another defensive support character like Luocha can be added to enhance this setup. It is worth noting that Luocha's first constellation benefits the entire team as the other characters also rely on ATK, resulting in increased damage output – if players have access to it.
3. Topaz + Kafka + Asta + Bailu
In this team configuration, Asta fulfills the role of a Fire damage buffer, enhancing the team's ATK and Speed to enable more frequent attacks from the characters. Himeko's follow-up abilities complement Topaz's buffs effectively. However, it is important to consider that Himeko's follow-up attacks may not occur as often based on the enemy's composition. This arrangement may be less impactful against enemies who are not susceptible to Fire or if there are insufficient enemies to accumulate Himeko's charge points.
Similar to Topaz, Kafka is a versatile character capable of serving as either the main DPS or sub-DPS depending on the team composition. Unlike Himeko, Kafka's follow-up attacks can be consistently triggered, especially when both Topaz and Kafka focus their attacks on the same enemy. This means that players can anticipate follow-up attacks from both Topaz and Kafka each turn. To maximize the effectiveness of this setup, it is recommended for players to utilize Asta once again. Asta's Speed buff facilitates the triggering of multiple follow-up attacks per turn, particularly when characters have also been enhanced with Speed stats.
2. Topaz + Qingque + Silver Wolf + Fu Xuan
For the last member of this team composition, there is room for flexibility, allowing players to select any defensive support option available to them. However, if players desire to form a dual-element team composition, Bailu can be a viable option, despite the possibility that she may not perfectly harmonize with the utility offered by the other members of the team.
A fascinating team combination that explores innovative synergies entails utilizing Topaz alongside Qingque as the hyper carry, with a primary focus on the Quantum element. However, in order to maximize the effectiveness of this composition, players must unlock Qingque's sixth Eidolon, which enables her to execute consecutive attacks and reap the benefits of Topaz's enhancement.
Fu Xuan and Silver Wolf are the two other characters featured in this composition. Although they do not directly benefit from follow-up attacks, they effectively support Topaz and Qingque. Fu Xuan, in particular, plays a crucial role in maintaining the team's high HP and providing a Crit Rate buff. On the other hand, Silver Wolf has the ability to weaken enemies with Quantum or Fire attributes and decrease their DEF, allowing the team to inflict more damage. In case the enemies already possess Fire and/or Quantum weaknesses, players have the option to substitute Silver Wolf with either Pela or Bronya, depending on the specific requirements of the team.
1. Topaz + Clara + March 7th + Natasha
The combination of Clara and March 7th as a follow-up attack duo is incredibly effective. By utilizing March 7th's skill on Clara and ensuring that Clara is frequently hit, these two characters can consistently trigger each other's follow-up attacks. With this powerful duo anchoring the team, the remaining character slots can be filled with individuals who greatly benefit from Topaz's follow-up attack buff. This strategic setup allows the team to unleash significant damage.
Moreover, this team composition is particularly noteworthy for being highly friendly for free-to-play players in terms of Topaz. Apart from Topaz herself, there are no characters from limited banners included in this team. On March 7th and Natasha can be obtained by players as part of their Trailblazer journey, which makes this team composition easily accessible and formidable for a large number of players.
