Home Sweet Home: Rookie Quarterback Tommy DeVito Finds Comfort in Family Traditions Before NFL Debut

New York Giants' rookie QB Tommy DeVito, set to make his NFL debut, remains grounded despite his upcoming first start Success won't affect him as he continues to cherish the comfort of his mom making his bed

Following his induction into the New York Giants as a rookie quarterback, Tommy DeVito is set to embark on his maiden NFL start this Sunday. However, despite this exciting opportunity, DeVito remains grounded and devoid of any inflated ego. In a testament to his humble nature, after the game against the Dallas Cowboys concludes and the dazzling NFL spotlight fades, DeVito will retreat to his childhood abode where he continues to reside alongside his parents.

DeVito, a New Jersey native, called the decision to continue living with his parents a "no-brainer."

"The house has everything I need," the 25-year-old informed ESPN. "The decision was made because playing football at this level can be overwhelming for a rookie, especially as a quarterback.

"There is a multitude of things happening, numerous meetings. Therefore, my family takes care of everything unrelated to football. I don't have to concern myself with laundry or figuring out dinner. All those tasks like preparing chicken cutlets are already taken care of by the time I arrive."

My bed is still made by my mom. She takes care of everything for me. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I could find a place closer to here than where I currently live. It only takes me 12 minutes to get here.

DeVito, who was not selected in the draft, began the season as part of the Giants practice squad. He was only added to the active roster last week after backup QB Tyrod Taylor injured his ribs.

The Giants' starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, is currently on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.

"Wow, that's amazing," Justin Pugh, DeVito's teammate, commented on his living situation. According to ESPN, Pugh admired DeVito's smart decision to save money, calling it genius, particularly in terms of finances.

"Your mom helping with your wash, making sure youre up on time, no distractions, unbelievable."

DeVito's teammates are also loving his home-cooked meals, as reported by ESPN. Wide receivers Jalin Hyatt, WanDale Robinson, and Bryce Ford-Wheaton have all paid a visit to his family home.

Saquon Barkley, the Giants running back, expressed that he believes DeVito's journey has the potential to become an incredible story.

According to ESPN, Barkley exclaimed, "Let's turn it into an incredible tale! An undrafted individual hailing from Jersey, residing with his parents – who knew? And now, he attains the position of the starting quarterback for the New York Football Giants. It truly is the epitome of a perfect story."
