Jennifer Lopez is getting real about aging as a woman in Hollywood and how the industry has grown to appreciate actresses of all ages.
In an interview published on Thursday, November 30, she expressed to Elle that she finds it fitting, saying, "It has changed a lot, and I think it’s appropriate. As you get older and you have more experience, you become a richer human being and you have more to offer. The idea of, ‘There’s nothing really valuable about watching a woman over 30’ is so ridiculous, it’s the opposite of right. It just makes me laugh."
Lopez further shared her perspective, stating, "People have realized that women just get sexier as they get older. They get more learned and more rich with character. All of that is very beautiful and attractive, and not just physically, but on the inside, the beauty that you gain as you get older, the wisdom you gain."
At 54 years old, the accomplished star remains as busy as ever, sharing with the outlet that she envisions herself working for as long as she chooses. "I'm uncertain of the specific age," she stated. "It could be 70, 80, or even 90. However, I'm confident that the option is available to me if I desire it, and I intend to make it happen."
Throughout her professional journey, Lopez has consistently defied the limitations imposed by others. "This has always been my mindset: to never allow anyone to confine me due to my birthplace, background, age, or any other factor," she elaborated. "Those boundaries simply do not apply to me."
Last month, Lopez revealed the exciting news that her highly-anticipated ninth studio album, This Is Me … Now, is set to hit the shelves on February 16, 2024. Fans can look forward to the debut of the album’s first single, “Can’t Get Enough,” one month earlier. This Is Me … Now will be J. Lo's first complete solo album in nearly ten years, following the release of A.K.A. in 2014.

In addition to sharing new music, Lopez announced that a visually stunning film recounting her life with Ben Affleck will be released on Prime Video next year to coincide with the album's launch. After reconnecting in 2021, Lopez and Affleck, now 51, got married in Las Vegas in July 2022 before having a more formal wedding the following month. Lopez's upcoming album, planned for release in November 2022, will feature a song titled "Dear Ben pt. II," a nod to her 2002 hit "Dear Ben" from the album This Is Me ... Then, which was dedicated to Affleck.
