Holly Willoughby, a popular British television host, has informed ITV that she will not be returning to the show "This Morning" after 14 years. This decision comes following reports of an alleged kidnapping and murder plot targeting her. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Willoughby stated, "I've let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning."
She expressed her gratitude, saying, "A heartfelt thank you to all those who have been a part of the show throughout the years. It's truly been a challenging farewell, and I am immensely grateful for your incredible contribution. Together, we have achieved something remarkable, and I will forever take pride in it."
Expressing her appreciation, Willoughby extended her thanks to her colleagues, the esteemed guests of the show, and the loyal viewers, referring to them as "the epitome of excellent company every day."
"I acknowledge that there are still many chapters to be written in this story. Unfortunately, I have reached a point where I must make a decision that affects both myself and my family," she declared, expressing her heartfelt sentiment, "I will dearly miss each and every one of you."
Notably, she chose not to address the purported conspiracy against her. As per The Guardian, a British man was recently accused of soliciting murder and inciting kidnapping.
Willoughby had been off the air since Thursday as the investigation continued.
Kevin Lygo, ITV's Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, expressed sadness in a statement over Willoughby's departure.
We are saddened by Holly's departure from This Morning but we fully respect her decision, understanding the immense difficulty it must have been for her. Holly is widely loved, respected, and renowned as one of the most accomplished broadcasters in the United Kingdom. With her presence at the heart of This Morning over the past 14 years, she has become an adored figure among our viewers.
In conclusion, Holly's unique blend of warmth, energy, humor, and spontaneity has truly brought life to one of the country's most popular daytime shows. Her absence will be deeply felt by everyone involved in the program. Nevertheless, she remains a cherished member of the ITV family, and we eagerly anticipate future collaborations with her.
