A brief recap of High Card Season 2 Episode 8

Episode 8 unveiled the truth of events from thousands of years ago, before the Kingdom of Fourlands was established. Lala, with his unique abilities, allowed Finn to witness the past firsthand without the need for a narration.
It was disclosed by Lala that he was the mastermind behind the creation of the X-Playing cards and aided a young boy named Ewan in uniting nations against outside threats. The inaugural Player was the black knight, San Galgano, whom Finn holds a deep grudge against for the tragic loss of his family.
Ewan, the unifier of nations, ascended to the throne as their king. However, Galgano stirred up a rebellion, insisting that only cardholders should hold such a prestigious title. In a bid to solidify his power, Galgano eliminated Lala and planned to publicly execute Ewan. Just as the execution was about to take place, a brave cardholder intervened and thwarted Galgano's sinister plan.

The other knights, who were also players, were forced to reconsider their decision to side with Galgano when his card filled with hatred and rage led to his demise. Despite Lala's plea for Ewan to die in his arms in order to make the cards disappear, the King refused to comply.
In a desperate attempt to control the situation, Ewan proposed that Lala become the 53rd card, serving as a fail-safe if things spiraled out of hand. Despite Galgano's relentless return in new vessels to devour other players' cards and destroy the 53rd X-Playing card, his powers needed to be in sync with his vessels.
Finn refused Lala's request to kill him, emphasizing the importance of the X-Playing cards to all of them. He then rescued Chris by attacking Galgano upon their return, but Zenon managed to corner them eventually.
After regaining consciousness, Tilt enlisted Galgano to help him confront Zenon, asserting that he was not a monster. Suddenly, Owen, consumed by anger, arrived and aimed his gun at Tilt.
