Hello Kitty Island Adventure: Delightful Sim Experience Tailored for Sanrio Fans

The highly anticipated narrative-driven life simulation game, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, has been in development for over two years by Sunblink and Sanrio. Set to be released on July 28th for Apple products, fans of Sanrio can expect a charming tropical escape reminiscent of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Although limiting the game to Apple devices may result in a potential decrease in player count, Sanrio believes that Apple Arcade is the ideal platform due to their shared core values. Sunblink representatives have even expressed the possibility of expanding beyond Apple devices in the future.

In an exclusive opportunity, indie games developer Sunblink allowed Game Rant to play an early build of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, granting them a ten-hour preview of the game. Upon release, the game is expected to offer forty-five to fifty hours of content, with additional updates promised. Hello Kitty Island Adventure: First Impressions

Players are prompted by the game to create their own custom characters with the adorable qualities of Sanrio friends. Currently, there are only three options to choose from: a bird, a dog, or a cat. Additional character types may be added in the future, but for now, players can customize their clothing and appearance whenever they encounter a mirror. The choice of animal does not impact the gameplay.

The story commences with the player awakening on an airplane that is close to reaching Friendship Island. Due to an incident involving Hello Kitty, all the Sanrio companions are forced to jump from the plane to the ground below. Initial quests involve ensuring the safe landing of the other characters while familiarizing oneself with the new surroundings. Thirteen Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi, Retsuko, Chococat, Hangyodon, Pochaco, Badtz Maru, Pompompurin, Tuxedo Sam, and Pekkle, are present in the game. However, at the beginning, only a few friends are available for interaction as some have been lost throughout the map.

The world and characters in this cozy life simulation are vibrant and comforting, creating an ideal experience for players. The expansive map offers a variety of locations such as shops, cabins, oceans, and swampland, as well as intriguing puzzles to solve. Sunblink drew inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for their puzzle designs, resulting in a challenging experience as the game progresses. Players are rewarded for their efforts, although the true value of some rewards may be uncertain. These puzzles often require platforming skills, logical thinking, or both. On the other hand, puzzle caves provide unique challenges in different environments.

In addition to the puzzles, players can also develop friendships by giving gifts to the islanders, similar to the mechanics in Disney Dreamlight Valley. By selecting presents that align with the islanders' preferences, friendship levels will increase more quickly. For example, giving Hello Kitty a pie, since she appreciates baked goods, is sure to make her happy. Furthermore, players have the option to collect and retain various items found throughout the tropical island, catering to the enjoyment of collecting and building an inventory.
