Halle Bailey Stuns in Majestic Crimson Dress at 'The Color Purple' Premiere

Halle Bailey was majestic on the red carpet at The Color Purple premiere.
Bailey, 23, stunned at the event on Wednesday, December 6, wearing a flowing Off-White gown. The striking crimson dress had a halter neckline, a cinched-waist bodice, and a multitiered skirt with ruched fabric lining each layer.
Bailey complemented the look with rosy diamond earrings and matching ruby rings. Her glamorous makeup included a silky red lip, delicate lashes, and winged eyeliner, while her hair was styled in trendy goddess locs.
After the premier of "The Color Purple," Bailey took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the film. She wrote, "Last night was a dream at the color purple premiere. I am truly so grateful to be a part of such a moving film … can’t wait for you all to see it on Christmas Day. Also thank you so much to @off_white for making this beautiful dress for me. I truly felt like a princess," along with photos from the red carpet.
"The Color Purple" is a film adaptation of the 2005 musical of the same name, based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel and its 1985 film adaptation. Walker’s novel explores the life of an abused Black woman named Celie as she struggles for empowerment in rural Georgia. The musical hit Broadway in 2015, with Cynthia Erivo as Celie. Erivo, 36, won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance.

The iconic character of Celie, first portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg in the original film, has now been taken on by Fantasia Barrino in the new movie. Ciara joins the cast as Celie’s sister Nettie, while Bailey appears as a young Nettie. Taraji P. Henson shines in the role of Shug Avery, and Colman Domingo takes on the character of Mister.
Bailey previously opened up about working with the star-studded cast, telling Cosmopolitan in September that the set was “beautifully Blackity Black.”

“Being on set was like attending a family reunion or cookout - surrounded by your aunties and cousins,” Bailey raved. “As a fan of everyone there, I was genuinely thrilled to be part of it. This movie truly is a labor of love. We all deeply care about the original story and were committed to doing justice with this reimagining. Fantasia and Taraji’s performances are going to blow people away. Just thinking about it gives me chills.”
This year has been a milestone one for Bailey’s career. In addition to The Color Purple, she portrayed Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, which hit theaters in May.
