Halle Bailey and DDG had their own reasons for keeping their baby news private. According to a source, Halle wanted to protect their baby and their relationship from public scrutiny. Despite this, their decision was seen as unusual by those close to them, especially considering Halle's successful year in movies. The 23-year-old plans to take time off to bond with Halo.
Bailey confirmed on January 6 that she and DDG, 26, welcomed their first baby together in 2023 after months of pregnancy rumors. "Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son," Bailey wrote on Instagram. "Welcome to the world my halo the world is desperate to know you ️."
In the snap, Bailey cradled the newborn’s hand. The baby’s wrist was adorned with a gold bracelet engraved with, “Halo,” revealing the name.

Later that day, Halo made an appearance in DDG's (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) music video for his new rap "Darryl Freestyle." In the video, the rapper was seen holding the newborn in his arms.
The actress who played the Little Mermaid sparked pregnancy rumors when she was seen in loose-fitting outfits during public appearances. At Beyoncé’s concert in Atlanta, Bailey sported an oversized pink ensemble. In an exclusive interview with Us in September 2023, Bailey expressed her enjoyment in experimenting with different styles and described her personal style as "bohemian, really chic and comfortable." Though she had previously embraced princess-themed looks during the Little Mermaid press tour, Bailey noted that she was ready to move away from that and try different styles.
Bailey sparked pregnancy rumors by skipping the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet days after her chat with DDG. She wore a dress that concealed her stomach, fueling the speculation. Despite the ongoing rumors, DDG, Bailey's boyfriend since March 2022, declined to address questions about their relationship.

"I am perplexed by the intense interest in my personal life and the lives of those around me. It would be beneficial to focus on one's own affairs," he stated in a recent Snapchat video. "Perhaps it would be beneficial to spend time outdoors, feel the grass beneath your feet, or engage in physical activities like a cartwheel in the backyard. It's peculiar. I truly fail to comprehend why there is such a strong fascination with individuals who are unfamiliar to you."
