There are still many unanswered questions regarding the fates of Chae-ok and Tae-sang in Gyeongseong Creature Part 2, which provides plenty of cliffhangers to look forward to in Season 2. Prior to the Netflix premiere, it was confirmed that Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 was in the works and the filming has been completed. With the anticipation of a new season, it's no surprise that fans were left hanging with some unresolved cliffhangers in the Season 1 finale.
Fans were in for a surprise with the unexpected twists that turned the tables for the characters in the latest season. From the uncertain fate of Chae-ok to the mysterious events involving Tae-sang, there is plenty to unravel in the new season. How will these storylines intersect and what deeper significance do they hold?
Let's delve into each cliffhanger and explore what they could signify for the future. Spoilers ahead!
A child of the najin is born
Throughout both Part 1 and Part 2, Akiko is pregnant with Ishikawa’s child. Before her death, the child was born and revealed to be a special breed infected by the najin.
At the end of Part 1, it was revealed that Akiko was the unwitting recipient of the water contaminated with najin. This presented both a problem and a saving grace for Kato, as she was pregnant during the entire K-drama. In Part 2, the najin reached Akiko's brain, causing her to crave human brains, but unlike Chae-ok’s mother, she remained human.
After being pursued by Ishikawa and his men and injuring him, she is brought to Onseong Hospital. Amid the chaos of Tae-sang burning the hospital down and the monster searching for her daughter, Kato finds Akiko. He realizes that she is in labor due to the pain she is experiencing. Later, he is discovered by a soldier cradling a deceased Akiko and a newborn child in his arms.
Upon seeing the baby, he marvels at its extraordinariness, and viewers witness the najin's journey to the baby's brain. To everyone's surprise, the baby opens its bright green eyes - eyes that are not human. What implications does this hold for Gyeongseong Creature Season 2?
The pre-credit scene indicates that the new season will leap into the future. Kato is likely to adopt the child and view it as the ultimate test of his experiment. It is also possible that the child is now a fully grown adult in Season 2 and has developed powers similar to Chae-ok's mother, or perhaps even new ones. Akiko's child may represent the new world order that Kato has envisioned for humanity.
Chae-ok is alive
Protecting Tae-sang from her mother, she dies in his arms. But a later cliffhanger scene reveals her mother gave her the najin to save her life.
The dramatic conclusion of Part 2 left fans in tears as Chae-ok sacrifices herself to save Tae-sang from her mother. She declares her love for him before tragically passing away in his arms. However, a surprising twist unfolds in the pre-credit scene where Chae-ok is shown in the water alongside the monster. To everyone's surprise, she transforms back into her human form and calls out to her daughter.
As the najin moves through the water, it leaves Chae-ok's body and enters her, causing her to awaken. This cliffhanger strongly suggests that Chae-ok will be returning for Gyeongseong Creature Season 2, but the impact of the najin on her remains a mystery.
Kato disclosed to Yukiko that Chae-ok’s mother turned into a monster due to being injected with anthrax when receiving the najin. It is possible that the najin could have similar effects to those experienced by Akiko. Chae-ok may acquire immortal abilities, but it is uncertain if she will have the same craving for humans. Additionally, their outfits for #GyeongseongCreature S2 appear more modern, indicating the possibility of a significant time skip or time travel.

Tae-sang is also immortal?
The pre-credit scene for Gyeongseong Creature Part 2 revealed Tae-sang is alive in modern Korea, but under a new name and seemingly not having aged.
Netflix
The pre-credit scene of the show is filled with cliffhangers, the biggest mystery being a small TV show about the historical moments in Korea up to possibly the modern-day pandemic. An unknown man is seen opening his window to a modern-looking city – but he also has a suspicious scar on the back of his neck. Someone calls his name: Ho-jae. Fans are surprised to see the Ho-jae look exactly like Tae-sang, or actually is Tae-sang.
The identity of this person is unclear. Did Tae-sang drink the najin and live an immortal life like Chae-ok? Is the scar from removing the najin? Or is Ho-jae a reincarnation of Tae-sang? Tae-sang suspiciously healed quickly from his wound at Onseong Hospital. The answers will be revealed in Season 2.
