"From the very beginning of my research for Narcos, [Griselda] stood out as a compelling character," Newman tells Netflix. Director Andrés Baiz explained to Netflix that the 1970s and 1980s setting in Miami allowed them to get creative with world-building. The era's music, architecture, wardrobe, and set designs served as inspiration for creating a unique tone that is both surreal, joyful, sexy, as well as transgressive and unconventional.
Griselda plot – What’s it about?
The series is described by the streamer as follows: “Griselda portrays the tale of a dedicated mother who established one of the most successful cartels in history. See how her deadly combination of unexpected brutality and charisma enabled her to skillfully balance between business and family when the series debuts.”
Griselda cast – Who’s in it?
According to Eric Newman, the Griselda story is unparalleled in its depiction of a woman achieving power, wealth, and respect, as well as instilling fear in others. This rise-and-fall narrative is a unique blend of thrilling, emotional, funny, scary, and tragic elements. Griselda is portrayed as an antihero who embodies a series of contradictions within herself.
