The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, a Taiwanese psychological horror game, is set to be released on console later this year. Originally launched exclusively on PC in August 2022, this first-person indie game quickly gained popularity on various "let's play" YouTube channels. It has maintained a "Very Positive" review rating on Steam.
Drawing inspiration from Asian folklore, the game immerses players in the chilling tale of a haunting ghost on the campus bridge of Tunghu University. A group of adventurous university students, driven by curiosity, decides to investigate and summon the ghostly lady. However, they soon regret their decision as they accidentally unleash a terrifying curse. Now, they must find a way to survive the horrors that follow.
Softstar Entertainment has developed and published The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation for PC. Thanks to eastasiasoft, the game will also be released on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S consoles. While the exact release date has not yet been announced, players can anticipate the arrival of this Asian horror game sometime this year. Preorders for the physical editions of the game on Switch and PlayStation will begin on July 13 via Playasia.
For fans of The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, there will be a limited physical edition available for Switch and PlayStation consoles. This edition will include additional items such as a collector's box, game manual, artbook, CD with the game's original soundtrack, a numbered certificate, and a region-free copy of the game. It is unclear why the Xbox console versions will not receive a physical edition, but it is possible that it will be offered on the Playasia store in the future. Alternatively, the digital version of the game will be available for purchase at $24.99.
Despite not making it onto the list of the best horror games of 2022, The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation has managed to cultivate a devoted following of fans. It is an adaptation of a Taiwanese horror film released in 2020, and the story is set in an actual university in Taiwan. The game incorporates elements of stealth-based gameplay, which are crucial for evading the pursing ghost, as well as puzzles that alleviate some of the tension and exploration to uncover the truth behind the events occurring at Tunghu.
The success of The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation game has resulted in the development of a sequel titled The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication. This new installment will feature an eerie Asian setting and transport players to another Taiwanese university renowned for its unsettling ghost legends.
The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation is currently available on PC, and PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S versions are currently in development.
