The Grey's Anatomy cast members are returning to the set now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have officially ended. Camilla Luddington, who portrays Jo Wilson on the medical drama, shared in a Wednesday, November 15, Instagram Story video that she was on her way to the table read for the upcoming season. Luddington noted the unexpected rain in Los Angeles, feeling that it was a fortunate sign for the show's Seattle setting.
Grey’s Anatomy, which premiered on ABC in 2005, is set in a Seattle hospital and follows the daily lives and experiences of its doctors, both professionally and personally. In a significant announcement, ABC confirmed in March that Grey’s Anatomy will be returning for its 20th season. Accomplished writer and producer Meg Marinis will be taking on the role of showrunner, replacing Krista Vernoff.
Adding to the excitement, several of Luddington's co-stars, including James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber), Chris Carmack (Atticus Lincoln), Midori Francis (Mika Yasuda), Adelaide Kane (Jules Millin), and Anthony Hill (Winston Ndugu), have hinted at their participation in the upcoming table read.
“Back at it,” Taryn Helm actress Jaicy Elliot shared on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, sharing a selfie originally posted by Francis. The photo featured Jake Borelli, Harry Shum Jr., Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho, and Hill, 36.

In season 19 of Grey's Anatomy, a new group of interns was introduced. This group consisted of Shum, 41, Floyd, 29, Terho, 27, Kane, 33, and Francis, 29. Levi Schmitt, played by Borelli, took on the role of the stressed chief resident in the struggling program. Towards the end of the season, Taryn made a deal with Richard to return to the residency program as a co-chief resident, in exchange for receiving more mental health care. Prior to this, Taryn had temporarily left her residency and worked at Joe's Bar.
The current cast of Grey's Anatomy includes Chandra Wilson, Caterina Scorsone, Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, and Debbie Allen. Ellen Pompeo, who portrays Meredith Grey, reduced her appearance on the show during season 19 and only appeared in a few episodes. However, Pompeo, 54, continues to provide voiceover for every episode and remains a producer for both Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff, Station 19.

"Despite her absence, she remains integral to the essence of the show," Elliot exclusively disclosed to We in October 2022 regarding Pompeo's departure. "Her influence is deeply rooted within the series. Additionally, you will become acquainted with the interns who evoke memories of the original group. The show is tailored to your desires... It's a nostalgic and enjoyable experience."
The premiere date for season 20 of Grey's Anatomy has not been announced yet.
