Journalist Gretchen Carlson, 57, is currently recovering from a near-disastrous cooking accident and has been able to find humor in the situation. She took to Instagram on Sunday, December 3, jokingly showing her bandaged middle finger and stating, "I’m sorry to say I’m going to be giving you the finger for at least a week. Almost cut off my finger chopping an onion tonight b/c I thought I’d make a healthy meal for myself instead of getting take out … again."
Author of Be Fierce, Carlson joked: "I now know that I'm not meant to cook!"

Renowned for her role as a former Fox broadcaster and a dedicated advocate for women's rights, Carlson gained widespread attention in 2016 by taking legal action against former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes. She alleged that she was terminated from the company in response to her refusal of Ailes' reported sexual advances.
Ailes refuted the allegations in a statement to We, contending that the lawsuit was a retaliatory response to the network's choice to not renew her contract, citing low ratings as the reason for the decision.
Following Ailes' resignation from Fox, Carlson settled her lawsuit with 21st Century Fox in September 2016. Her decision to speak out played a significant role in igniting the #MeToo movement, which was later depicted in the 2019 film, Bombshell. Ailes passed away in May 2017 at the age of 77.
In 2019, Carlson joined forces with Julie Roginsky to establish Lift Our Voices, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting a safer and more equitable work environment for all individuals, as stated on its official website.
