Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist, has been charged with a public order offense after being arrested for protesting at this year's Energy Intelligence Forum in London, according to a statement by the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday. The statement specified that the 20-year-old was charged for not complying with a condition imposed under Section 14 of the Public Order Act.
Thunberg participated in a climate demonstration organized by Fossil Free London outside London's Park Lane Intercontinental Hotel, where she protested against the annual summit that brings together top executives from oil and gas companies. The police reported that a group of 26 individuals were charged in relation to the protest on Tuesday.
"The statement mentioned that the protestors were instructed to relocate from the road to the pavement, allowing them to proceed with their demonstration while adhering to the conditions," CNN has reached out to representatives for Thunberg, scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on November 15, alongside 10 others.
