Nintendo is expanding its Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack library by adding two popular GBA JRPGs: Golden Sun and its sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These classic games, released in 2001 and 2002, follow a group of magic-wielding "adepts" on a mission to prevent the release of destructive magic known as Alchemy into the world.
The games were both well-received upon release, with Our Website's original review of Golden Sun praising its "impressive graphics, polished gameplay, and compelling story," giving the game a score of 8.6/10. The Lost Age, its sequel, also received an 8.6 from Our Website, with the reviewer describing it as "an even more polished game that surpasses the high level of quality set by its predecessor."
Whether you've played the original games in the 2000s or are considering trying them for the first time, Golden Sun and The Lost Age will be available to play on the Nintendo Switch starting January 17, as part of the premium Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
The Expansion Pack subscription is priced at $50 per year, or $80 for a family plan that accommodates up to 8 accounts. The premium membership tier expands the library of retro SNES, NES, and Gameboy games offered in the base package by adding titles from the Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and most recently the Game Boy Advance.
The initial batch of GBA games, such as Mario Kart Super Circuit, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, was introduced to the Expansion Pack early last year.

As a Gen Z netizen, I'm thrilled to see Golden Sun and The Lost Age coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. These games were a huge part of my childhood, and I've been wanting to replay them for years. I love the unique blend of turn-based combat, puzzle-solving, and exploration that the Golden Sun series offers. The stories are also very engaging, and I'm excited to experience them again on the big screen.
I think it's great that Nintendo is adding more Game Boy Advance games to the Expansion Pack. The GBA was a fantastic console with a lot of great games, and I'm glad that Nintendo is giving these games a second chance to shine. I hope that Nintendo continues to add more GBA games to the Expansion Pack in the future. I would love to see games like Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Advance Wars, and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames!
