Lil Wayne electrified the audience with an unforgettable performance to kick off the ceremony, while H.E.R. wowed everyone with her powerful rendition of her newest single, "The Journey."

LSU Women’s Basketball sensation, Angel Reese, has been nominated for the prestigious Best Breakthrough Athlete award this year. Joining her in the nominee list is no other than Argentinian soccer player, Lionel Messi, who is highly recognized for his exceptional performance in championships. Additionally, Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, stands as a strong contender for the Best NFL Player award.

In recognition of their courage, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team has been honored with the esteemed Arthur Ashe Award. Furthermore, Liam Hendricks, a remarkable Chicago White Sox pitcher and cancer survivor, will be presented with the Jimmy V Award as a testament to his unparalleled perseverance.

Trophies were presented by A-listers including Dwyane Wade, Peyton Manning, Mike Tyson, Travis Kelce and more.

The biggest names in sports ditched their jerseys for dresses, suits and more at the 2023 ESPYs on Wednesday, July 12. 

Presented by Capitol One, the ceremony aired live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Lil Wayne initiated the event with an unforgettable performance that had everyone on their feet. H.E.R. followed suit, captivating the audience with her latest single, "The Journey."

The nominees for this year's awards encompass a range of exceptional athletes. Angel Reese, a standout player from LSU Women's Basketball, is in the running for Best Breakthrough Athlete.
