Disney Dreamlight Valley fans may be in for a pleasant surprise with an upcoming update that could arrive sooner than anticipated. This update will allow players to earn Moonstones, the in-game currency, for free on a weekly basis. Currently, Disney Dreamlight Valley is only accessible through paid early access, but the developers have disclosed that the game will transition to free-to-play status later this year. As of now, players can access the game by purchasing a Founder's Pack or downloading it via Game Pass.

Similar to other live-service games, the ultimate objective of Disney Dreamlight Valley is to generate revenue through microtransactions, particularly once it officially launches and moves out of the early access phase. Moonstones, the game's currency, are somewhat difficult to acquire, which has led many players to resort to buying them with real money or painstakingly collecting them from daily chests. This move to incorporate microtransactions before the game's full release has been criticized by some players, considering that they have already paid for early access to experience the game prior to its completion.

Good news for gamers! It appears that a more efficient way of obtaining free Moonstones may be on the horizon. The official Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitter account recently revealed an upcoming update called DreamSnaps. This update will introduce photography-based weekly challenges, where players can participate, vote for their favorite photos, and win in-game items, including free Moonstones. Although the details are currently limited, fans are hopeful that the amount of Moonstones rewarded will make it easier for players to purchase items from the Premium Shop or access Disney Dreamlight Valley's Star Path.

The decision to include this feature in the game may be attributed to the introduction of Dream Bundles in Disney Dreamlight Valley. While some fans were delighted to receive additional game content, it also sparked backlash as it marked the first time quests were locked behind a paywall. The initial Dream Bundle, known as the Dapper Wall-E Dream Bundle, carries a price tag of 4,000 Moonstones, equivalent to approximately $15. Players who purchase the bundle gain access to four friendship quests, a Dream Style for Wall-E, five pieces of clothing, and one furniture item. Many considered $15 to be an exorbitant sum for this content; however, the adoption of DreamSnaps should facilitate easier acquisition of Moonstones without having to spend as much real money.
