Genshin Impact: Unveiling a Sneak Peek into Mondstadt's Grand Expansion!

Genshin Impact enthusiasts excitedly discover intriguing modifications in the placeholder models following the release of update 41, potentially indicating an upcoming expansion in Mondstadt

Highlights

Genshin Impact has updated the appearance of some Mondstadt placeholder models, sparking speculation about a potential expansion in the popular region.

Although Mondstadt is the initial nation in the game, it currently holds the title of the smallest region. Nevertheless, there have been rumors circulating about upcoming additions that could potentially change this. However, based on the recent alteration to the placeholder model, it appears that the expansion of Mondstadt may not offer as much new playable terrain when compared to larger regions like Sumeru, which surpasses the combined size of both Mondstadt and Liyue.

Genshin Impact recently updated the appearance of some of their Mondstadt placeholder models. Mondstadt, the oldest region in the game, remains beloved by fans as it serves as the starting point for every Traveler's journey in the world of Teyvat.

Despite being the first nation introduced in Genshin Impact, Mondstadt is currently the smallest region, with no expansions added since update 1.1. However, there have been rumors circulating for the past few months suggesting that players will soon have the opportunity to explore new areas in the Anemo region.

A couple of interesting screenshots have been shared by a Reddit user known as Substantial_Fan_9582. These screenshots reveal that HoYoverse has made adjustments to the placeholder model for the northern part of Mondstadt. The images clearly show that the mountains, which were previously present in the placeholder model, have been removed. This change has sparked speculation among players that the expansion of Mondstadt might be closer than anticipated. Furthermore, these adjustments to the model lend support to previous leaks suggesting that the upcoming Mondstadt expansion may not introduce a significant amount of new playable terrain, especially when compared to the size of previously released regions. To put things in perspective, the recently completed Sumeru region is actually larger than both Mondstadt and Liyue combined.

There is a possibility of new additions to the Anemo region coinciding with the Windblume Festival, an annual event celebrated in the Anemo nation. This event typically follows the Lantern Rite Festival, which is anticipated to be included in version 4.4. Currently, the focus of the game appears to be on the recently introduced Fontaine region and the characters associated with it.

Update 4.1 of Genshin Impact has introduced a fresh Hydro character called Neuvillette, who also serves as the Chief Justice in the Fontaine region. The ongoing storyline has revealed that Neuvillette possesses greater strength than many had anticipated, as showcased in the brief confrontation between him and Tartaglia.

Many players believe that Liyue will also receive an update to its explorable terrain in the future, suggesting that Mondstadt may not be the only region to undergo a map expansion. While the connection between Fontaine and Liyue has been revealed, there is currently a significant portion of unexplored terrain separating the two regions.

Genshin Impact can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, with a Switch version currently in development.
