With the release of Genshin Impact 4.1, players are excited to finally welcome the first Cryo Catalyst character, Wriothesley. Following in 4.2, Charlotte joins as the second Cryo Catalyst unit. Unlike Wriothesley, who excels as a DPS, Charlotte is designed to fulfill the role of a versatile healer support.
In terms of team composition, Charlotte can be included in any team that requires a healer. Her lack of unique or specialized abilities allows her to be adaptable. However, this also means she may struggle to stand out among other healers. For example, Mika is specially suited for Physical teams, significantly enhancing Physical DMG. In contrast, as a standard healer, Charlotte may find herself overshadowed by healers like Barbara and overlooked by players.
Freeze Team
However, Charlotte's standout quality lies in her proficiency with the Catalyst. This exceptional talent places her among the leading candidates for the prestigious Thrilling Tales of the Dragon Slayers. Consequently, it becomes apparent why individuals would specifically prefer choosing the Steambird journalist over alternate healers.
Apart from utilizing her healing abilities, one of the most effective team compositions involving Charlotte in Genshin Impact is the Freeze team. This is because Charlotte, the journalist character, can not only deal Cryo damage periodically but also create an area of effect that heals the active characters. Viable characters that can enable Hydro reactions in this team composition include Furina, Neuvillette, Ayato, Kokomi, Xingqiu, Yelan, and Mona.
Travelers can bring Hydro DPS into the team, but they can also opt for other variations like Anemo Swirl or even Vaporize/Melt with Pyro.
For instance, people can do:
Charlotte + Furina + Shenhe + Ganyu
Charlotte + Mona + Ayaka + Venti
Charlotte + Furina + Xiangling + Neuvillette
Charlotte + Wanderer + Faruzan + Bennett
Cryo Resonance Team
Charlotte's ability to wield Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers makes her a valuable support for enabling Cryo Resonance and granting a significant ATK buff to the DPS. This effect can be further enhanced by pairing her with supports like Bennett, Shenhe, and Kazuha, resulting in even higher damage output for characters such as Wriothesley and Ganyu.
In addition, having more Cryo characters in the team allows Charlotte to quickly recharge her Elemental Burst. As her healing ability relies on her Ultimate, having sufficient Energy Recharge or Particle production is crucial. While players can use Favonius Codex to address this energy issue, converting Charlotte into a battery and sacrificing the ATK buff from Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers would undermine her role as a journalist. Instead, players can consider using older characters like Diona as a battery, which avoids the need to invest resources in Charlotte.
Charlotte + Wriothesley + Kazuha + Bennett
Charlotte + Ayaka + Furina + Shenhe
Charlotte + Ganyu + Venti + Mona
Charlotte + Shenhe + Wriothesley + Xingqiu

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the release of Charlotte in Genshin Impact. She is the first Cryo Catalyst character, and her versatile healing abilities make her a valuable addition to any team. I think she will be especially useful in Freeze teams, where she can deal Cryo damage and create an area of effect that heals active characters.
I also appreciate that Charlotte can be used in various team compositions. This makes her a great choice for players who want to experiment with different strategies. I think she is a great addition to the game, and I can't wait to see how she performs in different teams.
