Oldman first appeared as Black in The Prisoner of Azkaban, reprising the role in Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. Despite fans praising his memorable performance, Oldman himself remains humble, stating that he doesn't view his work in Harry Potter or any other project as exceptional.
"It's like anything, if I sat and watched myself in something and said, 'My god, I'm amazing,' that would be a very sad day, because you want to make the next thing better," he said.
At the age of 46, Oldman was cast as Black. The Harry Potter films required less travel and paid better compared to his previous projects, affording Oldman the time and resources to raise his children.
Oldman expressed gratitude for Harry Potter on The Drew Barrymore Show, stating, "I tell you, the two - Batman and Harry Potter - really saved me. It meant I could do less work for more money and be home with the kids."
