Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw anticipates that defender Louise Quinn will recover in time for her team's match against Canada in the Women's World Cup on Wednesday. This comes after Quinn sustained an injury during the team's 1-0 loss to Australia. Upon arriving in Perth, the Birmingham centre-back was seen wearing a protective boot on her left foot and took part in Monday's training session separate from the rest of the squad.
"We need to see how that goes, but we are confident she can play," Pauw said.

Quinn, who has been capped 106 times by her country, plays a crucial role in Ireland's defensive stability due to her exceptional positioning and aerial prowess. Despite currently being at the bottom of their group standings following Canada's goalless draw with Nigeria in their opening match, Pauw, the coach, firmly believes that her team is still very much in contention to progress to the knockout phases.
"We were extremely optimistic about this outcome, and that's exactly how it transpired, which means the group is now wide open and there are abundant opportunities to strive for," she said.
Will Canada cope without Fleming?
Canada coach Bev Priestman has consistently highlighted her team's robustness prior to their encounter with resolute Ireland.Priestman stated that Ireland should follow Canada's example and show unwavering dedication to their country. The statement was made on the eve of their match in Perth.
Canada may have to face this challenge without Jessie Fleming, the Chelsea midfielder who scored two penalties in the gold-medal game at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Fleming's availability is in question as she missed the draw against Nigeria due to an injury.
