Highlights

The latest Call of Duty: Warzone update includes nerfs to the Cronen Squall Battle Rifle and RPK LMG, changing the meta and prompting players to try out new weapons.

The damage and multipliers of the Cronen Squall were significantly reduced, yet it remains commonly used in regular battle royale matches. In contrast, the RPK LMG underwent extensive nerfs and is no longer a popular choice, prompting players to explore other LMG alternatives such as the Rapp H or HCR 56.

The most recent update for Call of Duty: Warzone includes significant reductions in power for the game's Battle Rifle and LMG weapons, requiring players to reconsider their loadouts going forward. Balance updates for Call of Duty: Warzone are released almost every Wednesday, with some of the most impactful changes typically occurring during the launch of new seasons or mid-season updates, such as Season 5 Reloaded.

While the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is just a few months away, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone remain active and continue to receive a wealth of new content. The Carry-Forward system ensures that progress, weapons, operators, and other features from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone will be compatible and transferable to Modern Warfare 3. Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed that the Season 5 Reloaded update will be available on August 30 for both of the current Call of Duty titles. This mid-season update introduces new weapons, additional content for DMZ and Resurgence modes, and adjustments to balance in Warzone. A subsequent balance patch was also released in the week following the launch of Season 5 Reloaded to address and fine-tune some of the game's most popular weapons.

A new update for Call of Duty: Warzone has specifically aimed at addressing the Cronen Squall Battle Rifle and RPK LMG by implementing significant nerfs throughout all game modes, including DMZ. The Cronen Squall's effectiveness in close quarters combat, as well as its damage multipliers to the neck and upper torso, have been noticeably reduced. Conversely, the M13B has been strengthened with a substantial damage buff. Consequently, the M13B has witnessed a surge in usage, accounting for approximately 17.5% of all weapons wielded in Warzone. This newfound popularity has displaced the Cronen Squall as the preferred choice for numerous players. Despite the considerable damage nerfs to the Cronen Squall, it remains a frequently utilized weapon in standard battle royale matches. The RPK LMG, unfortunately, has suffered a significant decrease in damage and multipliers, resulting in its diminished effectiveness.

Game-Changing Update: Call of Duty: Warzone Takes Tactical Warfare to a Whole New Level!

The close damage of RPK has been reduced in Warzone Season 5 Reloaded. Although its close damage range and head damage multiplier have been increased, the multipliers for neck, torso, and limb damage have been decreased. This makes the RPK less effective in close-to-mid range battles due to decreased body damage. As a result, it is suggested that players consider using a Rapp H or HCR 56 LMG instead.

The recent update in Warzone may disappoint players who have been using the Cronen Squall since its introduction in Season 3. However, the weapon still remains viable in skilled hands. Unfortunately, the RPK's nerf means it will no longer be a top choice, bringing an end to its recent resurgence. Nonetheless, the latest Warzone update brings some freshness to the game's meta and encourages players to try out new weapons. As we approach the release of Modern Warfare 3, leaks suggest that a new Warzone map will be introduced, making balance updates even more crucial.
