Erik ten Hag once again faced boos resonating throughout Old Trafford as Manchester United suffered yet another defeat at home, this time succumbing 3-2 to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. With three out of their last four matches being lost on their own turf, the Theatre of Dreams is increasingly witnessing boos overpowering cheers.
United showed some improvement in their attacking play against their opponents from Turkey on Tuesday. However, their defensive weaknesses, which can sometimes be seen as comical, continued to be a major problem for the team under ten Hag's management. Despite Rasmus Højlund giving United the lead twice, they quickly lost their advantage on both occasions due to lapses in concentration at the back. This allowed Wilfried Zaha, a former United player, and Kerem Aktürkoğlu to equalize the score.
Things took a turn for the worse when André Onana made yet another disastrous error, his second in consecutive Champions League games, allowing Galatasaray to gain possession. This led to Casemiro fouling Dries Mertens, resulting in a penalty and Casemiro receiving his second yellow card of the match, leaving Manchester United with only 10 players on the field.
Although Mauro Icardi failed to convert the penalty, he quickly redeemed himself by skillfully scooping the ball over Onana after a well-executed pass, causing the ecstatic away supporters, who had been full of energy all night, to explode with joy.

Ten Hag said after the match that there were "no excuses" for Uniteds continuing woes.
"Perhaps we have a slight imbalance on the left side, but we cannot afford to continue making the mistakes we are currently making," he informed the journalists. "We need to improve, that is the undeniable truth. We must secure victories in our matches.
"I have witnessed a team that displayed exceptional unity, a team that demonstrated remarkable spirit, and they performed brilliantly in certain phases of the game. We scored impressive goals and on two occasions, we were completely dominant. However, unexpectedly, we committed a mistake, an error."
"I understand that football is a sport where mistakes happen, but as a coach, it is important for me to provide instructions on how to handle such situations. We are aware that mistakes occur and we have faced consequences as a result."
Following their third-place finish in the previous season and the triumph in the League Cup, the fans' optimism grew as they believed that this United team could progress despite another summer of significant investments. It was acknowledged that they may not reach the level needed to compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles, but steps towards improvement were anticipated.

However, the start of the season has surely been worse than even the most pessimistic of United fans would have predicted.
United's current position in the Premier League is ninth place, with only three victories out of seven matches. Additionally, they find themselves at the bottom of their Champions League group, making it challenging for them to advance to the knockout stage. The team's performance this season is particularly disappointing, as they have already suffered six losses in ten games. This marks their worst start to a season since 1986, which predates the appointment of the renowned Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rio Ferdinand, a former United defender and football pundit on TNT Sports, acknowledges that the team's poor form is worrisome. However, he believes that ten Hag should be given additional time to build upon the achievements of the previous season. "I am not of the opinion that he should be dismissed from his responsibilities at all. I still believe it is too early," Ferdinand stated on TNT Sports. "Considering the progress he made last season, taking into account the initial state of the club and where he brought it to, it was an enormous task which he successfully accomplished."
Manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure after United's fifth defeat in seven games.
"But the sound of alarm is unmistakable at the moment. I expressed this concern prior to the game, and now it has only worsened, intensifying the need for a prompt resolution. They are likely among the top contenders, ranking in the top two or three teams, in terms of the extensive utilization of players due to injuries and other circumstances."
There have been numerous off-field issues that many others in the history of the game wouldn't have had to deal with," expressed the 2007/08 Champions League winner. These situations involved Mason Greenwood, Antony, and Jadon Sancho. "However, the performance of the team on the field is where you assess him, and it has not been satisfactory."
United's upcoming game is a crucial match for ten Hag. It is a home fixture against Brentford, and it is now absolutely essential to secure a victory.
