You can expect to see Froy Gutierrez in more installments of The Strangers. The 26-year-old actor shared exclusively with We that his character, Ryan, will definitely be in the second movie. So, fans can look forward to seeing more of him for sure.

The Strangers trilogy was filmed in Slovakia over a 52-day period. Director Renny Harlin expanded on the world introduced in the 2008 home invasion film by shooting scenes interchangeably.

Harlin’s version of The Strangers stars Gutierrez and Madelaine Petsch as a couple, Maya and Ryan, who embark on a road trip to start a new life. Their car breaks down, leading them to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb home where they are terrorized by three murderous masked strangers.

In the first movie, Ryan and Maya were both stabbed by Man in the Mask while Dollface and Pin-Up Girl watched. Ryan seemed to be fatally injured and bled out in the cabin, while Maya was shown in a hospital in the final scene. Petsch, who is 29 years old, has already stated that she will be part of the entire trilogy.

Before the slasher film was released in theaters, Gutierrez talked about the challenges of filming the physically demanding scenes.

"We had to repeat all the running, crawling, and jumping in and out of windows multiple times. Most of the scenes were filmed in the wilderness, making it physically demanding," he told Us. "It was challenging but also rewarding as it helped me fully embody the character and feel the terror of the situation."

Gutierrez thought some parts of the experience were a bit spooky. He said, "It’s scary when you’re running for your life. Your body takes over a bit, leading your mind. Playing these characters helped me explore their physicality, which was a good experience."

Ryan endured various injuries, such as a car crash, while doing his best to save Maya's life.

Gutierrez mentioned, "When Ryan injured his ankle and started limping, there were many tender moments as well as intense scenes where we had to use every part of our bodies while running."

Gutierrez also pointed out how Ryan's asthma, and not having an inhaler, made the situation worse. In a key scene in the movie, Ryan creates an inhaler using an empty water bottle in the woods while trying not to be heard by one of the killers.

The actor jokingly referred to it as "Chekhov's asthma," alluding to the hints in the film. He mentioned how Maya and Ryan challenge some horror film stereotypes as a couple. Maya is portrayed as strong-willed, stubborn, intelligent, and often takes charge. On the other hand, Ryan shows vulnerability and is a bit of a grump.

Gutierrez mentioned that Ryan has a sensitive side to him and is skilled at handling stressful situations. They spent a lot of time developing the backgrounds of both characters, mostly in their own time. Gutierrez wanted to portray Ryan as a former Boy Scout with a tech-savvy personality.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 will be released in theaters across the country on Friday, May 17th.
