Are you a dedicated Fannibal? The TV series Hannibal, based on the novels by Thomas Harris (including Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising), made its debut on NBC in 2013 and quickly captivated fans with its horrifying and visceral storytelling.
Under the direction of Bryan Fuller, the show featured acclaimed performances from Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, who portrayed the cannibalistic serial killer, and Hugh Dancy, who played the role of criminal profiler Will Graham. Critics praised the series, with Vulture's Matt Zoller Seitz declaring it "the most visually stunning show on television" in 2013.
In 2015, Emily Nussbaum of The New Yorker described the show as having a mesmerizing allure. She confesses to being hooked, cautiously watching bits and pieces of the show, either numbing herself or heightening her senses. As the seasons progressed, Hannibal went from being a disturbing and bloody ordeal to a macabre masterpiece, full of enjoyment and daring creativity.
Despite Nussbaum's glowing review, the show received only one Primetime Emmy nomination during its three seasons and was ultimately canceled in 2015. However, Fuller did not blame the network for this outcome. Instead, he thanked them for giving him the opportunity to create a television series that no other broadcast network would have been willing to take on.

Are you a devoted Fannibal? The intense and bloody thriller series Hannibal, based on Thomas Harris' novels (Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising), made its debut on NBC in 2013 — and fans were captivated.
Under the direction of Bryan Fuller, this gripping show featured Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role as the cannibalistic serial killer, alongside Hugh Dancy as criminal profiler Will Graham. In 2015, Emily Nussbaum of The New Yorker described the show's irresistible allure: "I found myself irresistibly drawn, sometimes watching with one eye closed and other times binging episodes, either desensitizing myself or, depending on one's perspective, sensitizing myself properly. Gradually, I became accustomed to the darkness. By the middle of season 2, Hannibal ceased to be a blood-soaked ordeal and transformed into a bizarre masterpiece, offering pure pleasure and audacity."
Despite receiving this praise, the show only received one Primetime Emmy nomination during its three seasons and was ultimately cancelled in 2015. Nevertheless, Fuller did not blame the network. In a statement, he expressed gratitude for their willingness to allow him to "create a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared to pursue."
