Madhouse Studios showcased their exceptional animation skills, making every frame a work of greatness.
Frieren anime episode 9 highlights: Frieren faces Aura and her undead army
The ninth episode of the anime "Frieren," titled "Frieren the Slayer," started with Graf Granat expressing deep gratitude towards Stark and Fern for rescuing him from Lugner's anger. In light of this, he granted them forgiveness for the incident involving Frieren and Lugner in the town. Furthermore, he understood that the elven mage was not responsible for the death of the guard in the dungeon.
Upon discovering Frieren's name, Granat recognized her as the same mage from the group of heroes who had previously saved the town from Aura the Guillotine and her undead army during his grandfather's time. History was on the verge of repeating itself as the seasoned mage once again confronted Aura, 80 years later, in order to protect the same town.

In the following scenes, episode 9 of the Frieren anime transported viewers to a different setting, where Frieren braced herself to confront Aura and her horde of undead. The cohort of the demon king skillfully marshaled her army of the living dead to infiltrate the town. Nevertheless, the momentary arrival of the elfen mage caused a temporary interruption to her sinister plans.
Nonetheless, she proclaimed her dominance in the battle, boasting her control over a vast army of undead. Frieren admitted that Aura had surpassed her in strength. However, this only fueled her desire to eliminate her.

At Granat's residence, the general highlighted that Aura's "The Scales of Obedience" played a crucial role in their longstanding failure to vanquish the demon. It was in Frieren anime episode 9 that the truth behind Aura's power was unveiled.
Through "The Scales of Obedience," Aura wielded the power to manipulate individuals with lower mana levels than her own. Given her abundant mana reserves, it became exceedingly difficult to overcome her for the majority of adversaries. Throughout Aura's 500-year reign, no one possessed mana surpassing hers, therefore ensuring her undefeated status.
As depicted in the anime (Image via Madhouse), the ninth episode of Frieren's anime series returned us to the frontlines of the battlefield. Here, Frieren managed to successfully dispel the spell that had been cast upon several of the undead soldiers. Although the demon girl expressed surprise at witnessing the mage's actions, she was aware of the immense mana depletion that accompanied the use of a complex magic negation spell.
Fern and Stark display their strength and succesfully defeat Lugner and Linie
Inquiring about the elfen mage's motive behind casting the spell, she was reminded by Frieren of how Eisen once reprimanded her for obliterating the undead soldiers. Nevertheless, a futile exchange of words served as a reminder that the demons had no capacity to comprehend human emotions. Consequently, she steeled herself to mercilessly eliminate Aura.
In episode 9 of the Frieren anime, the focus shifted to Granat's residence. It was here that Stark suggested the idea of taking Frieren back to the town to confront Lugner and his subordinate. Stark believed that their previous victory over them was simply a stroke of luck.
But as they stepped outside, Lugner and Linie ambushed them. Lugner, the demon lord, displayed his blood magic, piercing Fern and trapping her against the wall. Meanwhile, Linie imitated Stark's actions and aggressively assaulted him with an axe.

Following a brief exchange of words, Fern successfully broke free from Lugner's enchantment. Without hesitation, she unleashed a swift and unexpected magical spell, catching the demon completely off guard. The ensuing events in episode 9 of the Frieren anime were nothing short of a breathtaking spectacle, as Lugner unleashed his full power in a relentless assault against Fern.
In another part of the story, Linie believed she had emerged victorious over Stark. However, the determined red-haired warrior displayed an unwavering resolve. Rising to his feet once more, he inquired where Linie had acquired her proficiency with the axe, reminiscent of his own master, Eisen.
In episode 9 of the Frieren anime, Stark, depicted in the image from Madhouse, unveils her unique power of replicating others' actions by memorizing their mana flow. Having encountered Eisen in the past, she is now capable of mimicking the techniques of the formidable warrior. Episode 9 of the Frieren anime witnesses Stark pushing beyond her limits to overpower Linie.
Fren unleashed a formidable version of Zoltraak, obliterating Lugner in the process. The episode concluded with the demon lord Lugner, perplexed, gazing at Fern who strangely bore resemblance to Frieren. Stay tuned for further anime news and manga updates throughout the progression of 2023.
