The MCU is experiencing a lot of activity, with rumors of four existing Marvel movies getting sequels causing division among fans. Overall, it has been a challenging year for Marvel Studios, with the latest release "The Marvels" not meeting expectations and ongoing developments creating uncertainty about the future.
Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors has created some complications for the MCU, even though he is set to appear in Loki Season 2.
On the bright side, there are reportedly four new MCU sequels in the works, giving hope for the future of Marvel.
Four MCU sequels rumored to be in development
According to Daniel Richtman, Marvel is set to start work on four new sequels in the MCU – Eternals 2, Doctor Strange 3, Black Panther 3, and Thor 5.
Though these titles haven’t officially been confirmed by Marvel yet, fans already have an inking that one of the four might be set in stone.
The post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduces Clea (Charlize Theron) and sets up the narrative for Doctor Strange 3, with a clear message that Doctor Strange “will return.” Although the four films are currently rumors, Marvel fans do have some elements to hold onto.
Director Taika Waititi has confirmed that he will not be returning for Thor 5, stating, "I know that I won’t be involved… I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for." The cast of Eternals also appeared uncertain about the possibility of a sequel, with Kumail Nanjiani commenting, "I don’t think Patton was right. I think that there was a hoax website – one of those where it’s like one letter off from the real one."
"I am honestly not sure about anything. I really hope Kingo makes a comeback because I love portraying that character. On the other hand, it seems like Black Panther 3 is more certain, as Letitia Wright mentioned to Variety earlier this year that it's already being worked on. It may take some time, but I'm really excited for you all to see it."
One fan on X/Twitter expressed their opinion that "Eternals" does not require a sequel. Another agreed, criticizing Disney's "Quantity over Quality" approach. A third fan shared their enthusiasm for future Marvel sequels, particularly looking forward to "Shang-Chi 2."

As a MCU fan, I'm thrilled to hear about the potential for four new sequels in the works! The MCU has been a major part of my life for over a decade, and I'm always excited to see what's next. I'm particularly interested in seeing where the stories of Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Thor go next.
However, I'm also a bit concerned about the potential for sequels to movies that didn't perform as well as expected, such as Eternals. I think Marvel Studios needs to be careful not to oversaturate the market with sequels and spin-offs, and to make sure that each new movie is a quality addition to the MCU.
Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of the MCU. I'm excited to see what's next, but I hope that Marvel Studios can maintain the high quality of storytelling that has made the MCU so successful.
