As December approaches, Fortnite fans are gearing up for the arrival of a new chapter. The current Fortnite OG has been a quiet period with no storyline, making it difficult for fans to predict what's coming next. However, there's a lot to look forward to in Chapter 5, as December promises to be one of the most significant months in Fortnite history. The upcoming update includes a major new Lego mode, a Rocket League-inspired racing mode, a rhythm game from Harmonix, and a brand-new battle royale island. Let's take a closer look at what's in store.
When does Fortnite Chapter 5 begin?
The launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 is anticipated to occur on the morning of Sunday, December 3, although an official release date and time have not yet been announced. This projection is based on in-game data, including the game going offline for the Chapter 5 patch.
Will there be a live event to conclude Fortnite OG/Chapter 4?
Finally! After a year-long dry spell without live events, Fortnite is gearing up for The Big Bang, set to take place on Saturday, December 2 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, marking the end of Fortnite OG. This comes after the last event, Fracture, was poorly received, making it the longest gaps between live events since the game began featuring them in Chapter 1.
The event details are mostly a secret for now, but Epic has confirmed that rapper Eminem will be a major part of the Big Bang event. Starting on November 29, three Eminem skins will be available in the item shop, with one of them earning an exclusive style if you attend the event. This particular skin, called Marshall Never More, is not free, but purchasing it will grant you an exclusive bonus style from the event, even if you buy it later on. After the event, the game will remember if you attended and unlock the bonus style for you, even if you purchase the skin at a later date.
This event is expected to be a remix of the Chapter 1 The End event, where the battle royale island was sucked into a black hole. However, unlike that event, Fortnite will not go offline completely at the end of the Big Bang event. User-made Creative maps will still be available until 8:30 PM PT / 11:30 PM ET on November 2.
What can we expect from Chapter 5?
The details about the future of battle royale are still unclear. It is anticipated that a new map will be unveiled during The Big Bang event, but information about new gameplay mechanics or changes is scarce. This could be due to numerous leaks regarding new modes outside of BR, which we will delve into shortly.
One piece of information we do have is a potential leak of the new map.
A new map named Helios has been discovered in the Fortnite files. It is currently unclear whether this map will be the new battle royale map, as it breaks the trend of previous maps being named after Greek deities starting with the letter A. However, it remains a possibility.
In addition to the new map, three major game modes are expected to be released by Epic sometime during Chapter 5 Season 1. These additions will come alongside the continuation of battle royale and Creative mode, providing players with even more gameplay options.
Fortnite x Lego
The long-awaited collaboration has finally come to fruition after a year of rumors and leaks. Fortnite x Lego appears to be a Lego-themed competitor to Minecraft, set within the world of Fortnite. Players will take on the role of a customizable mini-figure, gathering resources to craft and construct various items. Lego Fortnite will feature its own separate system of cosmetics, distinct from those found in the battle royale and Creative modes. It seems that using your Darth Vader skin in Lego Fortnite may not be possible.
One of the highly anticipated features of this mode is the Digital Twin, which is expected to somehow allow players to bring their real-life Lego creations into the game. However, further details about this feature have yet to be revealed.
Fortnite Festival by Harmonix
A highly anticipated mode is the rhythm game from Harmonix, the creator of Guitar Hero. This mode is reminiscent of Rock Band within Fortnite, but there is no confirmation yet on the use of physical instruments. It is expected that the mode will be playable with a controller or keyboard, but there is hope for instrument support as well. There is speculation that old USB Rock Band guitars may be compatible with the mode.
It is believed that this mode will feature microtransactions for in-game instruments, outfits, and new songs to play. Some of the reported songs include Thunder by Imagine Dragons, Poker Face by Lady Gaga, Africa by Toto, and Numb by Linkin Park. Additionally, there are rumors that Fortnite Lobby Tracks will be playable, and it is possible that songs purchased in the Festival will also work as Lobby Tracks.
Rocket League Racing
The new racing mode is a unique blend of Epic's Rocket League, incorporating the vehicle mechanics of Rocket League into a fast-paced, over-the-top kart racing game. With the integration of Rocket Pass into Fortnite Crew, it is likely that some of the cars owned in Rocket League will be transferable, creating a shared pool of cosmetics between Rocket League and Fortnite.
It's important to note that the information about the Lego, Festival, and Rocket League Racing modes is based on leaks and rumors. However, leaks in Fortnite tend to be accurate, and these particular leaks seem credible, so it's reasonable to anticipate their official release in the near future.
What will the Chapter 5 Season 1 battle pass look like?
There have been no rumors thus far about the first battle pass of Chapter 5. As we learn more about Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, we'll update this story.
Editor's P/S
As a hard fan of Fortnite, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming Chapter 5. The new Lego mode, Rocket League-inspired racing mode, and rhythm game from Harmonix all sound like a lot of fun, and I can't wait to try them out. I'm also curious to see what the new battle royale island will be like, and if there will be any new gameplay mechanics or changes.
The Big Bang event is sure to be a major spectacle, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Epic has in store for us. I'm also hoping that the new chapter will bring some much-needed stability to the game, as the last few seasons have been plagued by bugs and glitches. Overall, I'm very optimistic about the future of Fortnite, and I can't wait to see what Chapter 5 has in store.
