Charlie Colin, the former bassist of the band Train, passed away at the age of 58. He tragically slipped and fell in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium, as confirmed by his mother to TMZ on May 22nd. It was reported that Colin's friends only discovered him after returning from their trip five days later.
Colin recently moved to Brussels, where he was teaching a music master class at a conservatory, according to his mom who spoke to TMZ. She also mentioned that Colin was busy working at a studio and creating music for a film.
Just before his passing, Colin shared a lovely throwback photo of his mom in celebration of Mother’s Day, and expressed his gratitude for her on social media. He captioned the Instagram post, "️️My mom… Jackie O/ yet a tad prettier, a true artist ️️the loveliest most intelligent woman. happy mother’s day."
Colin co-founded the band Train with Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford, and Scott Underwood. Unfortunately, in 2003, he had to leave the group due to issues with substance abuse.
In a 2023 interview with Delphine’s Circle, Colin explained, "There were several reasons that led to my departure, but it all came to a head. We never took a break. We went straight from touring to recording our second and third albums. In Philadelphia, we started working on our second album... We just kept going without a pause. It felt too good to be true. Most bands only last a few years."
