Jorge Vilda, who led Spain's Women's World Cup-winning team in August, has now taken on the role of manager for the Morocco women's team. This comes after the scandal involving Luis Rubiales, who is currently under investigation for a non-consensual kiss with striker Jenni Hermoso. Vilda's appointment follows his dismissal in September, which occurred just 10 days after FIFA suspended the former president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) for the aforementioned incident during the medal ceremony in Sydney.
The 42-year-old, who viewed his termination as "unjust", faced significant backlash for continuously applauding Rubiales during a sudden RFEF assembly, where Rubiales criticized "fake feminism" and pledged to not step down. Vilda is currently under scrutiny by Spain's High Court due to the alleged incidents of sexual assault and coercion involving Rubiales subsequent to the controversial kiss.
Originally, only Rubiales was under formal investigation, while other federation officials and players were called as witnesses.

Frenchman Reynald Pedros, the former manager, joined Morocco in November 2020 and guided the team to their inaugural World Cup appearance in Australia and New Zealand this year. Notably, Morocco became the first Arab team to advance to the last 16. However, following two friendly defeats against Zambia, Pedros was relieved of his duties.
Pedros expressed his disappointment in not being able to continue his mission with the Moroccan national A team but he also took pride in leading the team to become world champions, as he shared on social media platform X.
