Aleksandar Mitrovic has informed his family that he refuses to continue playing for Fulham following the club's decision to set a price tag of approximately £52m on him.
This valuation, which has been communicated to agents, is expected to discourage potential suitors.
Mitrovic had been contemplating skipping the club tour of America, but now, after being persuaded by agent Pini Zahavi and PFA representatives, he has decided to join the squad as they leave for the United States on Thursday.
Nevertheless, it is believed that Mitrovic is frustrated with being unable to make a transfer due to the high asking price, despite having received two unsuccessful bids from Al Hilal.
Mitrovic's agent has advised Tony Khan to decrease his valuation to a range of £35m to £45m, causing Marco Silva to face a predicament during the tour with a displeased striker in his team. Consequently, concerns arise regarding Mitrovic's potential reluctance to participate in the initial Premier League game against Everton on August 12.
Fulham did not comment when contacted by We News.
Serbia international Mitrovic scored 14 league goals last season to help Fulham finish in the top half of the Premier League.
Mitrovic's contribution was instrumental in Fulham's successful return to the top flight from the Championship on two occasions. Initially on loan in February 2018, the forward later secured a permanent transfer for approximately £25m.
Al Hilal, one of the most active Saudi Arabian clubs in this transfer window, has already made a significant acquisition from the Premier League with the signing of Ruben Neves. The Portuguese midfielder, who previously served as the captain of Wolves, successfully completed a transfer worth £47m to the Pro League club at the beginning of the summer.
Al Hilal has additionally secured the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a midfielder from Lazio.
Reports suggest that Milinkovic-Savic, who is Mitrovic's compatriot in the Serbian national team, is poised to finalize a contract valued at over £17m per annum.
