Amy Schumer playfully laments missing out on the opportunity to portray Kitty Oppenheimer in the film Barbenheimer, expressing her genuine enjoyment of the movie and her belief that she would have excelled in that role. In jest, she also offers a witty critique of the Hollywood industry.

Initially, Schumer had been slated to assume the lead in Barbie, a Sony production, but had to withdraw due to conflicts in her schedule. The role ultimately went to Anne Hathaway. Schumer appreciatively acknowledges the talents of the new team involved in the film.

The films Barbie and Oppenheimer have exceeded expectations, becoming box office hits and achieving impressive opening weekend numbers. Barbie grossed $155 million domestically and $182 million internationally, while Oppenheimer earned $80.5 million in the United States and Canada. In an alternate reality, Amy Schumer would have portrayed the iconic doll in Barbieland instead of Margot Robbie. However, with Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie making history as one of the industry's most successful opening weekends, Schumer is sharing her thoughts on the Barbenheimer double feature event.

As the premiere dates for Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer drew near, fans around the world grew increasingly excited. The event, known as Barbenheimer, became the highlight of the summer, with fans showing their support by dressing in either pink or black attire as they flocked to theaters. The success of the film duo at the box office and their popularity on social media prompted other celebrities to join in on the double feature event. One of the latest celebrities to jump on the bandwagon is Schumer, who had been part of an early version of Gerwig's film.

In an Instagram post, Schumer playfully expressed her enjoyment of both Barbie and Oppenheimer but mentioned that she should have played the role of Kitty Oppenheimer, portrayed by Emily Blunt, the wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer played by Cillian Murphy. "Do better Hollywood," Schumer cheekily wrote in her Instagram post. While there are no reports of Schumer's involvement in Nolan's Oppenheimer, she had been considered for a role in Barbie.

Schumer was initially chosen to portray Barbie in Sony's 2016 production. The film was described as a story about a Barbie who didn't meet the expectations of Barbieland. However, Schumer later had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and the role was given to Anne Hathaway. Warner Bros. eventually produced the movie with Robbie as the lead and serving as a producer, while Gerwig took on the role of writer and director.

As anticipation for Barbie grew, it was revealed that Schumer had nearly been cast as the iconic doll. In a recent interview, Schumer disclosed that she left the project due to creative differences. She expressed excitement for the film, stating that it appeared to have a feminist and cool vibe. The comedian enthusiastically stated that she would be watching the movie as it looked "awesome."

Barbenheimer was released in theaters last week and both films have surpassed expectations at the box office, solidifying their status as blockbusters. They have brought in one of the highest-grossing opening weekends for theaters since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Barbie brought in approximately $162 million at the domestic box office and an additional $194.3 million internationally, surpassing its projected $110 million earnings in the United States and Canada. On the other hand, Oppenheimer earned $82.4 million in the United States and Canada, exceeding its $50 million projected opening weekend earnings. Both Barbie and Oppenheimer are currently being shown in theaters.
